Questions & Answers

What are the pros and cons of sanding 3D printed parts made from plastics such as PLA, PETG, and ABS?

The method you use for handling the sander will be entirely dependent on your skills. When you choose the right grit for the material you are sanding and are sensitive to the material, you should be able to achieve satisfactory results.

Do you have the ability to use 3/8" 13" belts with this?

The factory belts are 330mm x 10mm, but they market them as 13" x 13/32" (330mm x 10mm) to confuse and to force you to buy more expensive stuff. The conversion from inch to feet This chart measures 992" by 0". Proxxon sander is really noisy at low speeds. I just got it and it has been very noisy. Are there brushes arcing, or is there a problem with the ?

There is a bit of noise in mine. A scratching sound can be heard.

How is this made? Where is it from?

Apparently it's made by a German company, but I have no idea where it was manufactured. It works great for gunsmithing and I love using it as an auto file.

The price is not worth it especially if it might come in used condition
3/5

As such, the tool is easy enough to use and is definitely of sufficient quality to serve its purpose, but for the price, it is way too cheaply made. The Proxxon tools are far too expensive in comparison with what they can do. However, this is the second tool I've bought from them, the first was a power carver (also way overpriced) that was clearly used, and I received a second carver that was completely new. In the box, there was just a random block of Styrofoam floating around instead of being securely attached to the tool. As was the case with the first power sander that was delivered yesterday as well as the first sanding file that was received This was evident by how badly the red ziptie that seals the case was ripped off. And as you can see in the pictures, this is what I received in the first package yesterday, not what I got in the replacement. In addition to this, the sound of the motor of the first one was very different compared to that of In the beginning, the motor had a very high-speed The rattle was accompanied by a pitch-black squeeling sound. It reminded me of a wind-up toy car that you let go of after winding it up. Given the overall somewhat cheap quality of the tool, it's merely a question of comparing the cost against how long the tool lasts. It may not feel so bad if it lasts for more than six months, but something tells me I won't feel so good if it ends up lasting for more than six months. Furthermore, I also purchased the same tool under two different brands for comparison's sake. My favorite company that I have purchased from has been WEN. I have purchased 6 different tools/equipment from them including a drill press, lathe, air filter for workshops, rotary tools, etc. and I haven't had an issue with For the money, it is very reasonably priced and of high quality. Second, we have a Chicago Electric one. Nonetheless, I am eager to try out their tools since it will be the first time I have used any of them. However, I can tell you now that WEN will outperform Proxxon without a doubt. Furthermore, the belts used by the Proxxon file sander are different than those of any other brand, so you need to only purchase the replacements for that brand.

This is an excellent To deal with epoxy wood filler that I used to repair the rotted trim around a few windows, I purchased this tool
5/5

It has been a great experience. In the alternative, the sander would have had to spend hours A lightweight device with a variable speed control, loop for a lanyard and a pivoting head saved my life a few times while up on the ladder. It's as simple as remembering not to press too hard (let the sandpaper do its job) and taking a break when it gets too It is impossible to avoid the heat caused by friction.

A light-duty sanding wheel would be ideal for this application
3/5

This is a good sander for light sanding in tight places but does not have the power for grinding welds and rusty metal. The belts that came with it do not have abrasive for 1/2" at the splice. Neither of these units has the power I need. They bog down when put under any.

Performance and design of the highest caliber
5/5

A portable sanding device like this is simply awesome! Designed to be both long lasting and durable. I am the second owner of this one. I used the first one on a daily basis for my jewelry making business, and it was extremely well used. My only reason for replacing it was that after over nine years of daily use, its electrical cord became frayed, and I could not repair My other Proxxon tools are all well engineered, and I find them to be very reliable. They are built well and are of high quality. The cost of this one was well worth it.

The handsander has a small power motor
5/5

A purchase of this sander helped me do some detailed sanding on some interior cutouts for a project. It My business makes small boxes, and I needed to clean up some live edges. I thought the sander was just what I needed, as it allowed me to not only clean them up but to add more too and make them more attractive. Although I was concerned about the belts' life, they seem to last for a long time. My ability to fix the seam of the broken piece enabled me to glue it back together. Dust collection is necessary as the tool sheds a lot of particles, not as much in the air but on your hands and on the floor. I attached it to my small festool vacuum system to collect it.

I like this item a lot
4/5

The item works well, it's great. It seems to be My only complaint is that after about 15 minutes of use, it gets pretty warm in your hands, which is uncomfotable, so I had to rest it for a while until it cooled down, and it was difficult to use with gloves. It works fairly well and gets the job done, but all in all it's not a bad product.

This belt sander is great
5/5

The mini belt hand sander has so far been very good to me. There is quite a bit of noise I wonder if this is a threshing machine . . . This is normal, but I heard it was unusual. We'll have to wait and see how long it lives, and who knows how long it will last? There have only been a couple of months since I got it. When it lasts a couple or three years, I would call it a success.

This is a really useful It's a great tool that Unlike an angle grinder, it does not hog away the wood as it does with an angle grinder
5/5

Work of a more detailed type is performed on this device. To utilize the tool effectively, you have to let it do its job. Wood can not be forced to accept the sanding belt. There is an admission of that in the directions. In that case, I am totally fine. When it comes to getting into some delicate shaping areas, it does a great job. The fact that it is not made in China is also highly appealing to me. Luxemburg is the country where this computer is made. It is well worth the money that I spent on this tool. If I had to buy it again, I would.
