Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use L cleat 18g nails on this model?

This item does not work with L or T cleats, unfortunately.

Is it possible to use it to fix a couch?

I'm not sure how you'll repair your sofa, but you have the option of leaving the flooring foot on or removing it, which turns it into a brad nailer. In any case, it's a good hand tool for the money. I hope this information is useful to you.

Is it possible to use this to staple artificial grass to a board in order to subgrade bend it?

No, it would pass without a hitch. Make use of a staple gun to secure your documents.

Is it possible to install this on a 5/16 hardwood floor?

I have the 61721, and it easily drove 2" brads through 3/4-pine paneling and pressure-treated 2x4s. It's easy to shoot the brads too deep, so I had to reduce the air pressure to get the heads close to flush. I'm not sure if it's a good idea or the right fastener for 5/16 hardwood, but I'm sure the nailer can shoot the brads with enough force, but who knows. Is an 18-gauge brad capable of penetrating 5/16-inch hardwood? It might pass through soft maple, but how about solid hickory? or beech? We have no idea what kind of flooring you have.

It's a good idea to do some engineered hardwood DIY
4/5

If you're installing 3/8" engineered hardwood throughout your home, this is the tool to get. If you plan on doing this for a living, this is not the tool for you. It performs admirably in its intended role. The cleat's adjustment knobs are constantly loose, making it difficult to set and forget. The trigger is also pressure sensitive, which means that if you don't pull it all the way back, it will fire but not set a staple, which is extremely inconvenient when working with thin materials. The difference between this tool and a professional level version is noticeable, but if you're considering it, it's probably because of the price, and you're willing to give up the ability to move as quickly as a professional gun allows. It sets the staples very well as long as you pay attention to the cleat adjustment and pull the trigger fully, not just tap it. It's perfect for what it's supposed to be used for. There are better options if you plan on using it on a regular basis. I've run 10,000 staples through it with no jams, and it appears to be in perfect working order. It would be a 4 if the cleat stayed in place. 5 stars, and 5 stars if the trigger would only allow for a full shot. Overall, it's a great tool with minor flaws that I would enthusiastically recommend to anyone.

I'd give it a three-star rating, but it's difficult to say

Please continue reading. This is a companion piece to my review of the Bostitch EHF1838K-A, which is a "more expensive" version of this tool. R 18- Oil - Gauge Free Engineered Flooring Stapler, worth three times the price. The majority of my air tools are BOSTITCH, and they are truly the best. I needed to install engineered flooring (not my typical job), and I only had about 500 square feet to work with. ft. A brad nailer, held at an angle at the top of the tongue, will suffice. We needed this type of tool because my "slam nailer" was causing damage to the delicate top edge. br>br>The Wen 61741 appeared to be a good deal at the time, but I was disappointed with the tool once it arrived (from Amazon, of course)! The pneumatic sections were flawless and well constructed, but the 45-degree "shoe" that was attached was poorly designed, difficult to adjust, and likely to break before the job was finished. You could have removed the shoe without using this specialized tool, but then why would you have purchased it in the first place? br>br>Returned and upgraded to the Bostitch EHF1838K, which is, of course, perfect. br>br>Really disappointed, because the tool seemed well built otherwise, and the price difference is truly significant. Wen should rethink his front shoe design. br>br>As is customary. If something appears to be too good to be true, it most likely is.

For the money, this is a fantastic nailer/stapler
5/5

Laying 650 square feet of carpet was a breeze. ft. of engineered hardwood flooring The angle shoe plate is a little difficult to adjust correctly, and it tends to loosen up during use, but once you do, it does exactly what it's supposed to do.

For the money, this is an excellent tool

While I tend to rarely write reviews for my nail guns, I found the most complaints on this nail gun concern the loss of the base plate adjustment if the handle is raised above all hardwood thicknesses, resulting in its release. This did not occur if the knobs were held tightly to begin with the.

For an engineered floor, this is an excellent choice
5/5

For the money, you get a lot. I'm a decent handyman, but I had no idea how to lay down a non-plug-and-play engineered floor. I only needed a nailer after watching several YouTube videos. I only had a one-time job, so I didn't want to spend too much money. I had a feeling this would be flimsy based on the principle of "you get what you pay for. " It's fantastic. You can take the nailing attachment off and use it as a regular 18 gauge nailer. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of information provided.

It is necessary to ensure that all of the components are free to move
4/5

The stapes were not driven all the way when I first got them and started using them. It appeared that the alignment was a little off. I intended to return it. However, upon closer inspection, the front slides were locked. They were freed up after loosening the holding screws. Retighten the screws, and everything should be fine. So far, everything is going well. These were not the adjusting knobs, but rather the holding screws.

For the money, this is a fantastic gun
5/5

Following a lengthy investigation. I bought this expecting nothing more than it to last long enough to finish one project. br>I had 500 sq/ft of engineered hickory flooring to install (1/2")br>this thing worked flawlessly for the entire project. I missed a couple of times, but it wasn't the guns fault. User errorbr>The shoe did come loose once or twice, but it wasn't a big deal; just retighten and keep going. br>Very easy to use and set up; anyone can do it. br>For the money, you can't go wrong.

For a few days, it worked perfectly
3/5

My hardwood flooring in my living room and dining room suddenly stopped working after only a few days of installation. I'd shot about 100 SF by the time the trigger stopped working after each shot. Until then, all mistakes had been "mine and mine alone. " " The same thing started happening again yesterday, so I re- It worked for the rest of the day after I oiled it. br>It quit today, after I started weaving the new flooring into the old. d dead. Fortunately, I was still within my Amazon return window, so they sent me a replacement. br>When it worked, I used a 100psi gun to shoot 12" staples into oak. The gun functioned normally after that – until today, when it didn't.
