A cordless narrow crown stapler is a wonderful thing to have. and it has the power to drive long staples while also controlling the depth of the drive. br>BUT: It's a large, heavy object. I'm used to using my Bostitch 2n1 air stapler, which I can easily shoot one-by-one. handed. The Ryobi is so heavy that it's difficult to aim accurately without using both hands, and it's so big that it's difficult to see around it. It's a slow process. When you pull the trigger, it must power up for a brief moment before driving the staple, and you must remain precisely on target while waiting for that time to pass, which is more difficult than it appears when shooting horizontally. It has a "safety" switch that allows you to fire the trigger. This is typical of potentially dangerous power tools, but because the Ryobi's is activated simply by holding the handle, it's difficult not to activate it. I can't safely store it in a case with a battery, which is what they recommend. Perhaps just a minor annoyance? "RECON" is written on the reconditioned model. " was melted prominently into the plastic in LARGE LETTERS (which was done very badly, by the way). It gives the experience a touch of ugliness. br>br>I anticipate many years of reliable service from this tool, as I have from my other Ryobi 18v tools, but they would be more enjoyable years if the engineering were a little better.

Just so you know, you might have to fiddle with the back adjustment to get it to fire; they don't test these before sending them out. I know it doesn't seem like it would make a difference, but the guy on the phone said it works every time he gets a call from someone whose gun has stopped working after a short period of time. WD40 plus twisting the power adjustment at the back and trying to get it to fire made mine work! Before you send it back, I hope you read it.
This device performs admirably, but the cost of refurbished equipment is a bit high. I would have paid $30 more for a new one at Home Depot if I had more time to wait a few days. It worked flawlessly when used with stainless steel staples on treated wood. It made my job a lot easier and saved me a lot of time; however, the stapler is a little too heavy; my wife could only use it for a few minutes before it became too heavy for her.
Ryobi and I have gotten along swimmingly since we retired and entered the "handy man" lifestyle, and it's a great need it for myself job. It's a little slower than pneumatic versions, but it works just as well, with none of the noise, compressors, or hoses. I'm glad I added this to my collection because it's great as an all-day tool or a one-shot nailer.
It's one of those things you don't realize you need until you have it. It quickly completes a large number of fastening tasks.
This staple gun came in handy when I needed to do some weaving on chairs. Be aware that it is heavy; however, you will grow accustomed to it, and it performs admirably. The best Ryobi tools are those made by Ryobi.
This is, without a doubt, the most useful tool I've ever had. Everything is a nail in the eyes of a hammer. The coolest thing I've ever seen is a portable hammer with a nail rack. You need one of these if you're a tradesman or a hobbyist.
