Questions & Answers
An essential component of this product is a highly volatile and Base of a solvent with a strong smell. I suspect that the sealant chemical(s) carried by this stone base will not be an oil as much as a range of silicone family molecules, which, when viewed in isolation, would have an oily feel while having little in common with substances normally classified as oils. In order to bring out the color of the travertine pavers, I put this stuff down on about 1200 square feet. Solvent based stuff will probably penetrate deeper and last a lot longer, but you might need to dry the stone much more thoroughly than you might with a solvent-based solution. If most nights are dewy, it might not be as easy to achieve. Furthermore, it should also be applied over a relatively narrow range of temperatures. As a result, I ended up doing this in sections in the late afternoon after the stone had cooled, when the stone was in the shadows or nearly there.
