Selected User Reviews For HHIP 3900-0201 Quill Feed Handle for Mill
I did not know this handle could fit the Bridgeport quill perfectly once you bore it out to the correct size. You can do this on a lathe with a boring bar or on a milling machine with a boring head. This top unscrews easily (2 x #2 posidrive screw heads) and once the pin that holds the handle is removed, it is easy to replace. The bore is bored and the assembly reassembled, and it works It is likely that thread locker will be required to prevent its parts from coming There is no explanation as to why it claims to be a knee handle as well as why HHIP continue to manufacture it despite the fact that all reviews claim it to be There may be a milling machine out there that can process it. The performance of the program is satisfactory regardless of all this.
There are small differences between what is pictured and what is delivered. As a result, the ball on the end is tapered, rather than round, and I chose this one so that it would match the rest of the mill's handles. It's still functional, so it's not a big deal.
After receiving the handle, I attempted to attach it to the shaft of my Bridgeport 2J head, but it wouldn't fit. In my measurements, the bore diameter came out to be under an inch, but it should be After taking the handle apart and measuring the opposite end, I noticed that it had a diameter of just over an inch. There was a taper in the internal bore, but I would consider that to be normal for anything My dad and I took a break. This fixed the issue, handles now work as they should. Cleaning the bore and putting a 005 over the reamer fixed the issue, but it was a bit annoying having to do it twice It is very straightforward to machine a handle directly from.
Using an Acer milling machine. Tools are very useful, however ID dimensions and surface were a little small, but after some finishing, they worked fine. *But you shouldn't have to finish someone else's production. *PS Their quality control.
Despite this, it fit just fine without any modifications needed. 1 inch is the bore size. Since it's 004, it has a little looseness to it. The bottom line is that I'd buy it again for around 20 bucks because it fits, it works, and it's a great deal.
There will be a need to replace the set screw with a longer one and to add a jam nut, but other than that, it's.
It just barely fits the machine. The bore doesn't quite fit the machine. My only option is to sand it in.
