Questions & Answers

Has anyone used 30 gallon steel buckets for this? the galvanized ones that are used to store animal feed and other items?

It worked on a variety of sizes of buckets/drums as long as they were sealed tightly and a good shop vac was used. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is the bolt pattern and size of the flange at the bottom standard? Could I get the ID and OD dimensions if that's not possible?

Due to being out of town, I apologize for the delay in responding to you. It has a six-bolt design. I used 5/16" bolts for this project. The distance between the bolts is about 2 1/8". The distance between the outer bolts is 4 1/4" straight across. The Cyclone has a 3" opening on the inside. I'm not sure if this is a standard flange or not. On the internet, you can look up standard flange sizes. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is it possible to use this for wet pickup? Will it use a high-powered fan to separate water from the airflow? shop vac with a high flow rate (approximately 210 CFM)?

Yes, water spray is denser than air, and ANY material that is denser than air will separate in a vortex collector. You can use a special foam filter to clean the inside of your shop vacuum - These are made for wet pickup by the companies. This keeps debris out of the engine's intake system. With a screw driver, clean out leaves and debris from the inlet port on the inside of the shop vacuum filter, which is covered by the interior of the shop vacuum filter. But, because the motor isn't designed to be disassembled and cleaned, it's best not to let it in at all. (At least, that's what I think it is.)

How big are the entrance and exit ports?

How do you "downvote" a response to a question on this site? The first answer displayed is completely incorrect - In fact, the first TWO are incorrect. The ports are WELL UNDER 2", there's no way a 2 is possible. The 5" hose will almost fit - However, based on the response to this question, I purchased the 2. 5" hose - Now I have the pleasure of returning this one and anticipating the arrival of the correct TWO INCH HOSE.

I put off buying this item for a long time because I thought the price was a little high for a piece of plastic. My (endless) research revealed that the DD was highly rated, even outperforming even more expensive alternatives. After suffering through cleaning my clogged shopvac 2- I finally decided to go with the "economical" DIY model, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I was blown away three times during each project by how well the DD performed. I used the new unit on a project for several weeks, attaching it to my miter saw, router, and sander during that time. In addition, the floor beneath the table saw was cleaned. My DD bucket was filled to the brim with dust and shavings. There was almost nothing inside the shopvac when I opened it, maybe a smidgeon of micro dust, but it worked. This is fantastic. br>br>How did I make it? br>br> It will require a container with a lid. I was able to obtain two 5-pound bags. gallon pickle buckets with a rubber seal on the lid. I made a base out of plywood that was large enough to hold a pickle bucket and my shop vac side by side, and I mounted one pickle bucket (no lid) and my shop vac (wheels removed) to it. I purchased a cheap furniture dolly from Harbor Freight and removed the wheels before placing it on my base. I attached the DD to the 2nd bucket's lid. I made a gasket from gasket material, but a tube of liquid gasket from Wal-Mart would suffice. Muerto. Attach the lid to the DD bucket and slide it into the base unit's bucket. When you need to dump it, it will easily lift out this way (wear a mask!). Bob's your uncle once you've connected your hoses and plugged in the shop vac. A switching plug (SP) is a great tool to have on hand. The SP is connected to the power supply, and then your main tool and shopvac are connected to the SP. When you switch on (or off) your main tool, the SP switches on (or off) the shop vac.

This is a fantastic item

You're missing out on something truly special. I was a little skeptical when I bought this product, but I needed to do something about the dust in my home workshop. In addition, I bought the Eagle 1610MB Blue High Density Polyethylene Lab Pack Drum with Metal Lever- To go along with it, lock the Lid. I purchased a $50 gift card from a Big Box store. 00 shop vac and a variety of stock couplings in various sizes I was blown away by how well this product works by the time I put it together and started cleaning up the shop after a few big projects. I took a look at the brand new vac after opening the bucket to find about 4 inches of sawdust. There was nothing in it at all. BRAND NEW CLEANING! I read several negative reviews about this product that said it was flimsy and broke easily, so I added extra items to my cart to properly support the Dust Deputy in any areas where the hose was being pulled during normal operation. Here are some photos of my setup: I hope that this review has been beneficial.

It really works! This is an excellent product; I only wish I had started building my vacuum cart sooner

On Lumberjacks, I discovered a cart. com, and I added a shelf and a bin for accessories to my design. This design works well and makes cleaning up dirt and debris a breeze.

I adored it until it shattered into useless shards

I couldn't be more pleased with how my Dust Deputy assisted in separating wood and metal dust and debris! However, based on my personal experience, this model is far too fragile to be installed anywhere other than a stationary wall-mounted display. All of the connecting components are securely fastened to the mount. Others commented on how delicate it was, so I took extra precautions during installation, but not nearly enough. I mounted mine in a portable way for use with my roll-on camera, as I did with several others. around the vacuum cleaner in the store My heavy metal collection consists of Unfortunately, the container toppled over, causing side-strain due to the relatively heavy PVC piping components. a rubber ID-connected couplings in transition (Shouldn't rubber pipe couplings have helped absorb the shock? ) Despite the fact that the flange-mounted flange-mounted flange-mounted Screws were driven through the fender to keep the plate in place. With washers reinforcing every hole, the Dust Deputy's flange was sheared. ripping the vortex chamber's side walls along the external vertical reinforcement vanes rising up from the flange-end plate joint in half plate. Many of the same reviewers complain that the Dust Deputy's material is extremely slick and difficult to reassemble. They are correct, but I am still attempting to understand them. br>In conclusion, my Dust Deputy was surprisingly light, delicate, and brittle for the price.

YES, it's made of plastic, but it's SO WORTH EVERY DOLLAR! I'm serious

"Meh," you might think. It's not a problem for me to clean up the sawdust. " BUY THIS THING NOW! Suck it up, spend the money, and BUY THIS THING NOW! After using a miter saw for the first time, I was hooked. I was happy with my purchase because it did what it was supposed to do, but I wasn't overjoyed. I was very pleased with my purchase after using my sander with this product because there was no fine dust coating on anything in the garage because everything went into the bucket. I was THRILLED with this after using my planer for about 30 minutes on it! This will be paid for by the cost of two new filters for my Ridgid Wet/Dry vac. There's almost no way sawdust will get into your shop. When using this, use a vacuum to ensure that the filters last a long time. The image attached is a ten-minute video. After only thirty minutes of planing, the gallon bucket with a screw-on lid was completely FULL, and the wet/dry vac next to it was completely EMPTY.
