The distance between the mounting faces is close to 1 meter, I guess you are referring to the distance between your mounting surfaces Half an inch. It might help if you read this.
It is a bolt holes pattern for the non-removable Nema23 stepper motors. A distance of one meter separates the center from the center. There are 854 inches in this measurement.

If I were to duplicate it, I would have had to do a lot of work. The finish will have to be cleaned up to match the rest of my pieces, but the piece is well worth the price.
Costs a bit more than similar options, but it's well worth the extra cost in the end.
Although these are advertised as being NEMA 23, a NEMA 23 boss is 38 inches. There is a difference of 1mm. There is a 41mm counterbore on these. The motor doesn't align with it like it should, therefore it doesn't work. This is a pretty lame video.
I need it for a specific purpose, so it works just fine.
