Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use these on corner joints that are less than 30mm thick? I have a 25 mm corner joint and am curious if 5 mm makes a significant difference. ?

It makes a difference if you add 5mm. For the anchor, you'll need a 25-mm-deep slot. Furthermore, a 14mm slot in a 25 mm material leaves little meat to hold everything together. For 25mm material, you'll definitely need the 8mm system. Because a special jig is used to locate the hole for the grub screw, the 8mm kit is more expensive. If you don't need a lot of these, just get a pack of 8mm connectors and make your own drill jig instead of buying the whole kit.

What is the minimum thickness of the panel that these connectors should be installed on?

The DOMINO XL DF 700 joining machine's corner and flat connector system allows for stable connections that can be separated again at 30 mm (1-inch) material thickness. 3/16" or higher is the minimum requirement.

Is it possible to use the smaller domino with this?

Connectors are knocked down with a vengeance

The baby Domino's 8mm connector system is sufficient for most applications such as cabinets, bookcases, and the like, but these big boys are ideal for large items such as bed frames. I bought these to replace the old brass connector hardware on an antique wardrobe that was in bad shape, and they made the process go smoothly. The instructions consist of only a few pictures and are therefore very simple to follow. This connector system gives the Domino even more versatility, which helps to offset Festool's exorbitant tool costs.

I haven't bought this set yet, but I've used the connectors, and we have a few of these sets laying around our shop from previous customers. When used correctly, the connectors are easy to use and produce a super strong joint. You'll end up using and needing everything in the set, so it appears to be a good value. Thank you, Festool, for allowing me to spend money in new ways.
