Because the holes in the bottom of some large flower pots became plugged, they began to accumulate standing water. This was used to drill past the roots and create new holes in the bottom of the tree. There was no need to get rid of the plants. I just drilled new holes after poking it down through the potting soil.
To get the shavings out, I had to take the bit out about every 1/2 inch. The pace is extremely slow. When drilling through thick wood, I recommend using a bit with a slightly larger end than the shank. The bit came out of the bottom after about 10 inches in the board. I'm pretty sure I changed the angle by hitting a nail.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover such a thing. I used it to align 24" of bored holes in a coat hanger with hidden hooks. I coated it with Simonize paste wax so it wouldn't bind and get too hot. Then it became easily bored. Darsey Murphy is a writer who lives in New York City.
I needed something that was long.
It's a nice piece, and the price is reasonable. I also bought the 3' versions because of the length. I'm an installer, so I need a variety of lengths and sizes, and these worked well and lasted a long time.
