The correct bit for cleaning carbon deposits from the M1A/M14 gas piston tail is this one. Because of the long shank, I was able to use screwdriver plastic handle stock as a grip. When cleaning the gas piston, NEVER use a power drill. It's just a matter of removing the carbon build-up. This is what I came up with. Despite the high cost of the bit, this area of the piston is a critical gas chamber for the M1A/M14's proper operation. Letter size "O" and "P" standard length drill bits are also required for cleaning the large opening of the gas piston as well as the gas plug itself. All of these components are powered by hand and are only used to remove carbon build-up. NOT metal, but up. The drill bit I received is of excellent quality. It is something I would recommend to anyone who requires such tooling for proper weapon maintenance. br>br>Instructions on how to clean a M1A/M14 with these drill bits can be found in various manuals and on the Internet. Wire Gauge 8 is the size description. I was expecting it to be a zero. The bit, however, is zero. 196 This appears to be a good bit, but it isn't the one that was advertised.
