To be honest, the case that came with them would be far too small. There are a plethora of far superior options. Check out the Husky drill cases at your local Home Depot. Larger, older, and oddball bits are always present in my collection. They're all kept in a 6" square case.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. The hex shank on the TI9IM drill bit is a separate piece of steel that connects the drill bit to the drill bit. These were purchased to remove steel rivets as part of a contract job installing and repairing parcel lockers. Even after applying oil to the bit's tips on a regular basis, they quickly dull. Just to make sure it wasn't a bad batch, I bought a second set. This time, I tried drilling pilot holes with a smaller size bit (bits snapped), and I was more careful with the amount of pressure I used, but the main issue of the bits becoming dull after a few uses persisted, even after applying oil. If you're drilling metal, look for a different/better drill bit set.
When drilling into soft metal, the 3/32 bit broke immediately. I had hoped for a higher level of quality from Bosch.
After a week in my toolbox, these drill bits began to rust. They've never been used and are currently stored in a toolbox drawer. They were stored in a dry toolbox, but I live in a humid environment. br>br>From Bosch, I would have expected more.
One of the drill's shanks snapped, and the shard is stuck inside my power tool. Not only is this drill bit set useless, but my $75 power tool is now useless as well because I can't get the broken piece out of it.
The bit holder allows for some wobble, so if you just turn the drill on and keep an eye on it, you should be fine. It sways slightly. That isn't a problem, though, because you simply press the bit against the desired hole location before turning on the drill press. It has a clean and straight cut - It is stable and does not sway. It does a fantastic job of holding the bit. This set is what I use to cut holes in alpine skis made of layers of composites, metal, wood, and plastic - It cuts like butter through it.
It works fine now, but I'm not sure how long it will last. Because these drill bits have a hex end, I don't need to tighten the chuck as much as a round end drill bit would require. I can't say how long they'll last because I've only used them a few times, but they've done a good job drilling wood, plastic, and light metal so far. The only way to find out is to wait. It was a good deal. I only wish they came in a pouch or an index box so they could be stored more easily in the drill case. So far, everything has met my expectations.
When I need to do some light duty drilling around the house or in the workshop, these are ideal for use in my small battery powered bit driver. Rather than getting out the big hand drills or setting up the drill press, this is a lot more convenient. Bit changes happen at breakneck speed.
