These bits were purchased to replace a broken exhaust stud that I had. The bit was unable to penetrate the stud. It went into the stud 1/8" after 15 minutes of drilling, and then the bit broke in half. I bought a similar bit from a different vendor, and it drilled the entire 1-inch hole. It only takes a few minutes to make a 1/2" stud. It's the first time I've ever had a bit shear with such low pressure. I'm not sure what kind of steel these are made of, but it's not very long lasting.
I purchased these to add drill bits to a Ryobi driver, but the set I purchased was not complete. I just swapped out a row of 2" bits I didn't use very often for these. They fit perfectly, allowing me to have only one bit case rather than two. However, it appears that the quality is acceptable. br>br>Be cautious about the brand you choose- One of the most popular brands on Amazon does not offer quick change. These do.
When I was replacing the timing chain on my Audi, I noticed that a few of the lower timing chain cover bolts, chain guide bolts, and chain tensioner bolts had been rounded out due to the previous owner's replacement overtightening them to well beyond 20nm. Even with the Audi in service position, there is only about six to ten inches of clearance between the engine block and the radiator, according to anyone who has completed this repair. With the Ryobi drill in a tight space, these definitely helped get into that space.
These are decent little drills; they're not as high-end as dormer drills, but they got me out of a jam when drilling a really tight hole with the drill's 90-degree adapter screw driver.
These low-cost bits are intended for use with wood, but I purchased them and used them with a right-hand drill. Drilling out some difficult-to-reach places with an angle attachment get- to rusted nuts and bolts They did a great job with that task when used at a slow speed. I'd buy it again if I had to, but hopefully I won't have to.
They get 5 stars because they did exactly what I asked of them, and they did it well. I can't say how long they'll last because I haven't used them yet, but they're already worth the money for what I've used them for.
I haven't used them yet, but I bought them based on other people's reviews. They were purchased for a specific project that required them to be short, and I recommend them at this time. If they don't work out, I'll have to change my opinion.
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THEY DO NOT LOCK INTO THE QUARTER INCH CHUCK ON MY DRIVER AND COME FALLING OUT ON ME.
