If you have the correct extension (which is commonly provided by the drill or bit manufacturer), and you cut the core produced by the first "run" of the drill bit from the drill-bit, then you can do it. Holes are obvious. This operation will require you to move the drill rig out of the way and then reposition it so that it is aligned with the drill pipes. The bit and extension rod need to be inserted into the hole to continue drilling.
