Selected User Reviews For DEWALT Drill Bit, Pilot Point, Industrial Cobalt, 1/16-Inch (DWA1204)
During a drill session, my DeWalt cobalt set cracked a bit. It is not possible for me to have it. As a result of the incomplete set, I stayed awake all In fact, I'd rather be beaten with a tire iron than have a drill bit set with only half the pieces. In fact, I'd rather learn that my wife had an affair with my brother Kenny than have a drill bit set that's not complete. As far as a drill bit set goes, I would rather have an incomplete set of drill bits than my parents having a threesome with my junior high school PE teacher. My parents are a lot more likely to believe they know who my biological father is if they have an incomplete drill bit set than if they know who my father is.
It is misleading to describe the product. A bit of 5 is claimed in this statement. The length of the stick is 8 inches. 2 7/8 inches in length, but the bit actually measures 2 7/8 inches in length. box measures 5 inches by 3 inches by 1 inch. The length of the stick is 8 inches. Because it is a Dewalt bit, I know the quality is fine, however I was in need of a long bit, so this was a waste of both my time and money.
The review can be found here. In the advertisement, the length of the product is stated to be 5 3/4 inches. There are only 2 3/4 inches between the two. 5 3/4 inches long, x 0. 5 inches wide, x 0. 4 inches high. Other than that, it seems to be fine.
By using this 3/32 colbalt drill bit, I was able to successfully drill out a stainless steel set screw that was stripped. Previously, I had tried titanium nitride coated drill bits, but they couldn't handle the material. As a result, I am pleased to report that I was able to purchase this piece. If you want speed just don't use it on a regular basis and make sure to use it occasionally.
It is used for drilling 4 holes in my boat trailer so that I could attach a rope. There is a 3/16" galvanized coating on the steel. A hole was made with much effort and sweat, but I did not make a mark on the second hole. With a no-brand bit I bought from my local hardware store, I made the three remaining holes quickly. I made one hole with this bit in half the time it took me to make the remaining three!
I figure I cannot return the bit since it is used.
You should never use HSS bits for drilling even into soft steel. If you need to use them, go with the cobalt bits. During the course of replacing my HSS bits, I slowly replace them. It is noticeable that the cutting performance varies from one machine to another. It sounds like the bits of the HSS are squeaking and squealing. Cuts are made with these cobalt bits. Cutting oil is a good choice.
The bits that come with a DeWalt tool are typically sharp right out of the box. You may pay more for Cobalt, but you may find that it is not as durable as other metals. The edges of some scissors retain their edge after hundreds of uses, whereas the edges of other scissors tend to dull after a few uses. It's even happened to me to have some that failed on the first try with mild steel (not DeWalt). As a matter of fact, I use the proper speed and oil. There is a high likelihood that quality control in the factory is lacking The concept exists. Bits from DeWalt tend to hold an edge on average longer than those from other manufacturers. I find it sad that their description includes the English sentence, "This product meets customer requirements. ".
There is no pilot point for me, I got a split It certainly would have been better to listen to other reviews here in which people warned it was merely a split point, not a pilot point as it had been It is not worth the effort to return.
