You need to use it properly in order for it to work well. I have purchased several bits like it before and they work as expected. It is not possible to drill dozens of holes in old concrete with these bits. If you get five to six holes out of one bit, you are lucky. There is no guarantee that a defect in the bit will lead to the pilot bit breaking. The retainer pin may also break or fall out. A bit like this does not require any miracles. It drills numerous holes in concrete of various shapes. The hole is drillable through steel rebar, but it has to be done carefully and dulls the bit significantly, so you should only use the rebar cutting bit in these areas. When I see people giving this bit three stars or less, I am frustrated by it because it is well worth every penny and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have it. I have my own.
One Bosch core bit is for plumbing, two are for gas piping, one is for water piping The first two, the second, and the third. The 3" have been with me for almost 3 years with multiple holes cored and some through rebar. I have not had any issues other than one broken tooth on the 3". After being successful with my previous bits, I bought this one due to the fact that I needed to core 5 holes to make some 4". This meant that every time it was cored, it was breaking teeth. In the 5th hole, I can't make it all the way through without chipping every tooth on it, so I had to use a jackhammer to finish it. The thing is, I was very disappointed with what I received, whether it is QC or a different material coming from the place the item was manufactured.
This machine made short work of stucco and cinder blocks. When the thickness of the material you are boring through is thicker than the depth of the boring cup, just drill to the depth of the core bit, hammer out the center, then proceed to drill out the remaining depth as needed. A very happy moment for me.
As of this writing, I have drilled 15 to 20 holes in basement walls using my SDS+, and then chiseled out the concrete to pass 4 in. pipe. I wonder why I didn't think of this sooner. This is so much faster and cleaner, and I'm grateful for that. The cost involved with SDS Max and the 3 bits is significant, but as time is money, I have already started recouping the $1500 I spent on these tools.
The product is manufactured This new product still looks as good as when it was first bought.
Trying to make a hole for a tractor, and the centering bit went crack, and I didn't really think I could keep the hole in the center or cut through My unit probably is the only one. I used a Bosch Rotoray SDS hammer to drill.
My corer went through concrete footing without an issue. I only got a hole out of it, but it was still Despite the complete bit not working, it still looks good! This bit is a good coring bit I recommend it.
My rental store broke the one I bought here, hence my decision to buy new. A 5" bit 8575 was being used to drill through the lid of a septic tank, and after drilling the second hole, the lid came apart. If Bosch chooses to deny a claim for warranty repair, the holes will be drilled at a cost of $100 per hole. Due to the fact that I have limited experience with drilling concrete, I am grading it a 3. I got it done for a lower price than I would have paid. All in all, a 3 seems reasonable.
