1. br>br> The hose has a hard time retracting because the spring is either too short or too weak to support the reel. This isn't a "controlled slow rewind. " " Like an old vacuum, I had to force the last few feet inside the reel. " 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br There are no clicks that can be heard. Unlike every other reel on the market, this one does not have the standard three clicks to indicate whether the reel is locked or unlocked. It's made to handle both "soft" and "hard" pulls. " You have to guess and play around with it to get it to lock/unlock. " br>br>It's easier for me to use my free hose and wind it around my arm than it is to do this. It would have worked if it had.
It is relatively simple to set up. We always need to inflate tires and other items, so I bought this hose. I have a small pancake compressor, but the hose is long and has been laying around the garage, posing a tripping hazard, so I bought this and put it in my garage. To give the reel plenty of room to swing, I hung some wood on the wall. This also made it simple to secure the reel with two bolts. After that, I needed to purchase a hose attachment in order to connect it to the pancake compressor directly. It's pretty simple, and if you need any hose attachments, you can get them at Home Depot or Lowes. I like how I can simply pull the hose out to the cars and it automatically retracts. So far, everything has gone well.
SuperHandy was one of the few companies that offered a 12awg retractable cord, which I needed for the garage. The majority of them only have 14awg wire available. Given that they also had the retractable hose that I was looking for, I figured why not match? My main concern was that the hose would be more plastic than rubber, but this was not the case. It's extremely flexible and long-lasting, which is essential when you're constantly rolling up. Both the hose and cord reals appear to have good initial quality, look good, and are serving their purpose out of the box and after installation. I'll come back if there are any problems.
Pulls out smoothly, then slowly but steadily retracts. I had a larger reel that couldn't stand up to the heat and humidity in Central Texas, but this one does! It works great at 100psi, which I piped to it! Without hesitation, I would suggest it.
This is a hose that will get the job done. It will stretch 50 feet before coiling back with a firm tug. As you walk back, hold on to the hose to keep it from getting away from you. There is some effort involved, but it is insignificant when compared to manually coiling one up using only hand and arm strength. Hire a gardener to do the work for you if you prefer something less time-consuming.
When I first used this reel, the plastic gasket elbow blew out. The metal piece that is supposed to keep the elbow in place did not appear to be seated properly when it was built, and as a result, the elbow was pushed out. The elbow's plastic has deteriorated to the point where it is no longer functional. When I called the number listed on the product, I received an automated message stating that they are currently unavailable due to COVID. After a few days, the email I sent went unanswered.
I've seen these branded under different names for a lot more money, but they're just as good.
I've wanted one of these for a long time. This thing is everything you'd expect it to be, and then some.
