Questions & Answers

Does "auto rewind" imply that the hose tries to return to the unit at all times? Is it out until you yank on it to get it to come back in?

It has a ratcheting stop feature that allows you to stop it at any time with about 1-second of effort. The interval is 2 feet. Pull until the ratcheting becomes audible, then stop. To reintroduce the hose, simply pull it in again.

Is this a reel that was manufactured in the United States of America?

These days, nothing is manufactured in the United States of America. It would be at least twice as expensive if it were made in the United States, so it's time to stop inquiring about where things are made. In case you didn't know, your iPhone is also manufactured in China.

Is it possible to set up a system to run water through it?

Yes, I use weed killer, despite the fact that it is harmful to the environment.

Mounting is a breeze
5/5

"For $70 or less, I can roll up my 25' hose myself and save money," I've always said. So, for Christmas, my wife got me this 'MaxWorks 80720 Auto Rewind Retractable Reel with 3/8" x 50' Air Hose and Brass Fittings. ' br>It was simple to set up; it took me about 30 minutes to complete. I made a template for the base out of cardboard, drilled the holes, and mounted the reel with 3/8" x 2" lag bolts and washers. I screwed in the two bottom bolts, leaving about 14 inches between them and the reel base, and then the two top bolts. The 2" x 4" wall studs and door frame were on 4' centers, which was a lucky break for me. Before mounting the reel, the trick was to unroll the hose from it. My weight is 33 pounds and I am 76 years old. is a significant weight. A street elbow and a 6' lead hose were the only things I needed. I used my old 25' hose to temporarily connect the reel to the compressor. There were no leaks and everything worked flawlessly after several tests. This hose reel is such a time saver. br> I no longer trip over my hose, and I can now roll it up in under 15 seconds. I can now extend my hose outside the shop to inflate my trailer tires and repair them with my pneumatic tools. Thank you, MaxWorks, and especially you, sweetheart, for such a thoughtful gift.

I thought it was hype when I opened the box and saw the "Professional" label. I'll have to agree after I've mounted it on the wall and used it. He's a hulking hunk of a man. Easy to install. br>br> I used a 2x12 to span the gap between the existing framing and secured it with five 4" screws on each end. The bracket was then mounted to the 2 x 12 with 1/2" x 1 1/2" legs. Slick. Solid. For decades, I've wished for one of these.

It's a waste of time to use the hose
3/5

Out of the box, cracked and gummy. Well - This thing was a waste of time; it's not difficult to put together, but it's also not easy. I noticed the hose was cracked as soon as I had it installed. br>br> Then I noticed that right where it cracked, it appeared to be missing the inner core. Then the worst happened: I unreeled the hose, and the rubber splattered all over my hands. Is it for real? Who would be able to make use of something like this? I also included images of my gloves, the hose reel with the rubber peeling off, and the hose crack. I'm afraid I won't be able to return it because I've already mounted it. I'll simply replace the current hose with a new one.

Spring has broken, and it hasn't been used in a long time
3/5

Bought in July 2020, it hasn't been used much but appears to be in good working order. br>HOW TO INSTALL: It's quite heavy, so if you can get one, a helping hand will come in handy. In studs, make sure to use lag bolts. br> Mostly used for light cleaning and tire inflation, with the occasional pool toy or balloon thrown in for good measure. The spring has broken today and will not retract at this time. I heard it snap, so it was either defective or the product was simply not built to last. I even tried replacing the hose with a smaller, lighter one, but the spring was still broken. Given how new it is and how little it has been stressed, I will try to get a replacement from the manufacturer. I'll update this review to include how they support their product; every now and then you get a lemon, and they make a lot of them, so maybe I just got a clunker with a defective spring mechanism. When you do, the difference is in how the business handles it. br>If you're thinking about it, I'd hold off until I get back to you. I wouldn't buy it if they don't follow through on their promises.

It has a lot of weight to it, which is a good thing
5/5

It's extremely heavy. The weight on the box is 40 pounds. I chose to bolt this to a shelf over the compressor so I don't have to drill holes in my garage finished ceiling, which is the same design as the harbor freight model, but I'm hoping the hose is better than the central pneumatic brand. This hose is mostly used to paint cars. I had a hand-wind version before, but I'm excited to try out this professional-looking automatic version. Some people claim that the fittings leak, but mine didn't. On every fitting, I use teflon tape, and I replace all of the hardware. I've put this hose through its paces at 120 psi and have yet to find a single leak. If this review needs to be edited, please let me know.

Installing it is extremely difficult
3/5

I'm always surprised when I see a product that could be SO much better with a few simple tweaks. By profession, I'm a product developer. A simple rule to follow is to TRY the product you're MARKETING. I don't believe anyone at this company bothered to INSTALL one of these in their own buildings or garages. If they had, they would have discovered that a heavy timber screw is nearly impossible to insert into the mounting plate due to the reel's obstruction. All they'd have to do now is add mounting ears to the plate and make that option available. If you're going to use lagging or timber screws to hold this up, do so now. It won't work, so don't try it. Only bolts can be used, making installation much more difficult.

It's a fantastic hose reel, and I'm very happy with it
5/5

I was hesitant to buy this because of some of the one-star reviews. However, I spoke with a friend who works on heavy machinery, and he said he has two of them in his shop. I've had mine for about three weeks and am completely satisfied with it. I never go above 125 PSI, and it's not pressurized all the time, but I'm happy with it. This hose reel is one of my favorite additions to my shop, and I would recommend it.

Keep an eye out for any potential leaks
5/5

This is a heavy-duty air hose reel that is well-constructed and sturdy. The hose connection on the reel hose swivel end was not teflon sealed, which was one of the issues I had. When I installed the unit and turned on the air, that connection leaked; it was a pain to repair, but it was necessary. This is a product that I would recommend. Before you put it in, make sure there are no leaks!.
