What is the diameter of the pipe for which these were designed?

Pipe threads are tapered, so there aren't any.

In the swivel joint, what kind of packing is used?

I'm not sure, but I've had mine on my hose reel for at least three years. There hasn't been a single leak in four years. I'm also in Arizona, which has a very dry climate.

Is it possible to get replacement o rings for this particular connection?

Yes. It'd probably be just as simple to get a replacement at a parts store. That's exactly how I went about it.

Will it fit on a cart with a hose reel?

It was probably about a half-inch thick. On a water hose, I'm not sure it would work.

Make use of it for the purpose it was designed for

This was purchased to go with a Brass Hose Barb Fitting Adapter, 1/4" Barb x 1/4" NPT Male that I already had. Unfortunately, the adapter did not fit properly into the swivel joint, presumably because the swivel joint was designed specifically for the Side Winder hose reel. I purchased a second brass 90-degree swivel elbow, which served me well. This isn't to say that the Lisle 50310 is a waste of money; it's far from it. I used it for something it wasn't intended for in the hopes that it would work. Hopefully, what I've learned will be useful to others.

Yes, this is a 1/4" 90-degree angle. Swivel adapter with a degree of swivel. When you rotate the swivel, however, it acts as a valve, shutting off the flow. This should be mentioned in the product description because it affects the adapter's functionality. It is rendered useless for some customers, such as myself.

BUYING CHEAP JUNK IS NOT A GOOD IDEA! Amazon's return policy is a godsend

My air compressor hose reel had a swivel installed on it, and air was leaking through it. Returns and refunds are not a problem. Swivel had the appearance and feel of a high-end item, but it was a dud. I suppose you get what you pay for, i. e. , cheap goods at a low cost.
