It's all about the pounds. It's quite heavy.
Yes, I returned the first one and received a replacement that was fine and with which I have had no problems. They appear to have a handle on things - It is an excellent item.
I don't know because I only use it as an air compressor. Sorry
It's a hose similar to the Flexzilla hose brand, and it's extremely soft and flexible.

I was a little concerned about being able to use this as a water hose in the yard, despite the fact that it says "water usage. " I now have adapters that fit like a glove and a steady stream of water flowing after two trips to Lowe's (the reel came with me the second time). The automatic reel is a champ, which is why I bought it and went through all the trouble. I don't think it'll give up after one or two seasons. When the warning to not open the spring enclosure includes the threat of death, you have to be impressed. So far, neither pressure nor flow have been an issue. My last hose reel may have recently been purchased.
I just got mine, and like others, the ratchet mechanism for locking the hose did not line up, so I had to add washers. This is completely unnecessary on the manufacturer's part, and after adding the washers, the bolt is a little short, so the locking part of the nut does not hit the threads. I'm guessing I'll have to come up with a new bolt mechanism to replace the current one - a real pain, and it's aggravating that the manufacturer makes the same mistake over and over again, and that it's mentioned in every review but not resolved. To make this work, the manufacturer should at the very least send out the appropriate sized bolt with the same design - I'd appreciate it if they were proactive, as they must be aware that this is a problem given the number of buyers who are experiencing it. Aside from that, it was exactly what I needed - My only wish is that it worked right out of the box, which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating. On the installation, we received 5 stars and 2 stars. A purchaser should not be required to "repair" a new product. I exchanged the original for a replacement, and the replacement's ratchet mechanism works flawlessly. The mounting pin was too short to align everything, so adding the washers didn't work.
Update: 5/21: The latching mechanism now works properly after Amazon sent a replacement. I'm using it with water instead of air, and it's working perfectly. The 100-foot retractable hose is fantastic, and the spring is strong and. I just got rid of an old green hose that was constantly tangling. Good job, Amazon and Goodyear. Original Review: br>br>Original Review: br>br>Original Review: br>br>O I followed the instructions when I took the item out of the box. The hose extends from the reel as indicated by 1/2-turn clicks, but the reel does not stop after each click. As a result, the hose tries to retract completely back into the reel without putting any tension on it. A spring-loaded catch is present, but it does not line up properly with the reel ratchet, according to a closer inspection. It didn't work right out of the box, which was disappointing. It also took a long time to arrive from Amazon.
This air hose reel is convenient because it comes fully assembled, but it needed to be repaired in order to retract properly. Because the lever that locks into the gear to hold the reel in place did not line up, I had to remove it and replace it with two washers. I notified the company, but I'm still not sure whether it was assembled incorrectly at the factory or if there was a design flaw.
It's difficult to find a self-winding air hose reel that can hold 100 feet of air hose. br>br>I've had a manual one that accepts 100 feet of hose for the past 20 years. br>I'll need 100 feet to clear the sprinkler system and reach up the driveway to fill tires. br>br>With the snow blowers in the way, it's difficult to get to the air hose reel in the winter. br>I can pull the hose out, but I can't get back there to rewind it. br>And at 20 years old, it still works, and I've gotten my money's worth out of it. However, it's time to leave because it's getting a little agitated. br>As are my knuckles when it comes to rewinding and how close the crank is mounted to the wall. The Goodyear reel's four negatives. br>br> Pricey, to say the least. br>It's a bit of a slog. br>Make it so you're sitting on the floor. br>There is no consideration for wall mounting. br>br>It's okay, but it's well-constructed. br>For it to sit on, I built a chest-height shelf out of 2x4s and plywood. br>I secured it to the shelf with a couple of eye bolts so it wouldn't fall off. br>Simple construction that supports the Reel's weight well. br>The rubber feet almost prevent it from slipping on the plywood, but I'm not willing to take that chance. At HD, a strap costs $75, and eyebolts cost a buck. It's above the snow blowers, easy to remove, and the self winder is fantastic. br>br>Thus far, everything has gone well. Although it is costly, it is an excellent product. br>When pulling out the entire 100 feet, start at the beginning and work your way back to the reel to avoid overstretching the hose. The hose has a slight stretch to it. br>Pulling 20-year-olds out of the woodwork. 30 feet from the end appears to be no problem, but once you get past 50 feet, you'll want to return to the reel and grab the middle of the hose to restart. br>The ratchet spring must be released in the same way. br>Now that I've got all 100 feet out, I walk back to the reel and pull on the hose near the reel to release and guide it back onto the reel. br>br>The rollers are great, but for the price, a leader that moves and layers the hose correctly as it rewinds, like you'd find on a $50 water hose reel, would have been included. br>This was not a major factor for me, and it did not prevent me from purchasing it, but it is worth noting at this price point.
This reel has a nice self-retracting feature. This air hose reel is pre-assembled and ready to use right out of the box. I knew it needed to be repaired before I bought it because it didn't retract properly. (Two washers on locking arm) The lever that locks into the gear to keep the reel in place did not line up exactly as other reviewers claimed. To make it work, I had to remove the part and replace it with two washers. I used this reel on an irrigation service truck with an air compressor to blow irrigation systems for the winter, and it worked great and saved me a lot of time traveling from home to home. More money can be made if time is saved. I can't believe they've kept shipping it out with this factory error. Nonetheless, it's a good investment. However, keep in mind that repairs are required. Also included is an air hose that appears to be of excellent quality. All- Overall, it's a fantastic investment. If you're using it with air, it's also not too heavy.
