Questions & Answers
This product was 100% produced in China. It is not on the product itself, but it is on the shipping box. Goodyear is the only company that has permission to sell this product. This product appears to be identical to the low-cost units, but you must pay extra for the Goodyear logo. The hose is neither marked Goodyear nor made in the United States of America. Their leader hose appears to be made by Goodyear if you purchase it. I recommend looking at a different product; don't be fooled like I was. Because of the Goodyear name, you might believe you're getting a good deal.
Thank you very much for contacting me with your inquiry. The support arm can be adjusted to direct the hose outlet for mounting on the floor, wall, or ceiling. Details on adjustment instructions can be found in the manual.
I'm not sure why one seller and another claimed it didn't include the whip hose, but mine did. I purchased a second one due to the lack of responses. I'm glad I did because I purchased a 6' hose that included a 3' hose, a fitting, mounting lag bolts, anchors, and thread tape.
Thank you for contacting me, Terri. This reel has a 1/4''NPT male outlet and a 3/8''NPT female inlet, just for your information.

Although I assumed the reel was made in China, I assumed the hose would be a Goodyear product, which it is not. This is 100 China is 100 China is 100 China is 100% Having said that, I believe I paid too much for the implied quality. Goodyear granted a license to use its color and branding to sell the product, which worked for me and I'm sure others. Others who are reading this review should look for something else to do. I haven't had much opportunity to use the product, but I feel cheated because I misjudged the marketing, which is my fault; I hope it holds up. This is more of a buyer beware review to make sure you know what you're getting, which is mostly branding. Also, this product does not come with a leader hose (as stated in the product description, so I was aware of this beforehand), which makes it even more of a disappointment given that other products do.
You may believe that this is a high-quality product. Overall, this is a well-made product, which is to be expected at this price point. The air hose's bright yellow color faded to an unsightly brown color almost immediately after purchase. Inside, in a non-commercial setting, I keep my reel. What used to be a nice-looking product now appears to have been in commercial use for ten years. Beware! I would have expected such a high-priced item to keep its condition for longer than a month. Goodyear should be ashamed for selling such a low-quality product.
The ratchet spring failed in less than a year, so don't buy it. Expect this to last only a few months if you use your hoses frequently, and the seller must accept returns on faulty items. In the future, I will not buy anything from this seller.
After four attempts to contact the vendor (Great Circle USA) for a resolution, the vendor (Great Circle USA) has given no response. However, it appears to be mine, as I missed the return window by a whopping 12 hours. br>Never again.
made for a low price.
For the money, this is a fantastic device. It has a strong frame and hose reel assembly that can be mounted on the floor, the wall, or the ceiling. I used 3/8"x 1" as a template. It was secured to the bottom of a shelf (made of 2x4s) just above my compressor with 1/2" lag screws and washers. When mounting the reel, leave a two-inch gap between the reel's edge and the floor/wall/ceiling to give the hose some breathing room. br>br>I expected to have to do a lot of setup and adjustments to get the unit to work properly based on the instructions. Not So! The unit worked flawlessly from the start once I had it mounted and connected to the compressor. Make no changes if you don't want to. The factory set the spring return tension, and it worked flawlessly the first time I used it. The connection of the hose between the reel and your compressor can be a little tricky. br>br> The unit comes with a 50' hose on the reel, but it does not come with an interconnect hose, so you will need to supply your own. Because my compressor was next to the reel, I ordered the matching 3' Goodyear hose. If it's a longer distance, you might need a longer hose. The reason I say it's difficult has less to do with the equipment and more to do with physics. It's no problem to screw the hose into either the compressor end or the reel connector; however, when you try to screw the other end of the hose into the other device, it starts to twist tighter and tighter into a knot, until you have an unworkable mass of rubber hose. Not good. There are probably fittings that allow you to tighten the hose without twisting it, but there's another option. Simply prepare ahead of time. Twist the hose three or four times in the opposite direction of where you'll be screwing it in. This way, as you tighten the hose fitting, it unwinds the twists you put in the hose beforehand; it may take a few tries, but you should be able to attach both ends of the hose without twists in the end. br>br>In terms of the reel, the main hose unrolls smoothly without binding or twisting, thanks to the guide rollers that keep it aligned. The guide rollers allow you to pull the hose out at any angle up to 90 degrees on either side; however, latching the hose while extending it can be a little tricky to get used to. Every half-hour, there are three "clicks. " You must time your pull to stop right after the first or second click; otherwise, if you go too far past the third click, the latch will not latch, and you will have to go another half-turn. Reverse the direction of your attempt. After a little practice, releasing the hose and allowing the unit to wind it back in is as simple as giving it a downward tug and letting it start pulling it in. It's a good idea to slow down the hose as it retracts with your hand rather than letting it fly back in at full speed. br>br>I haven't had the unit for long, but tonight I dragged out the entire 50-foot hose to blast out every smoke detector in the house. This was simple to accomplish because the reel kept the hose fully extended while I worked. After that, the hose rewound itself neatly back on the reel with just a little tug and some guidance. NICE! br>br>I'll update this review if things change, but for now, I'm pleased with my purchase.
According to the information I found, the metallic parts are manufactured in the United States, while the hose is manufactured in China. So far, three months later, I'm pleased with my purchase. Installing it on the wall proved to be a challenge. My Father had to construct a wooden mounting bracket because we couldn't figure out how to secure it to the wall using the (iirc) 1/2" screw holes. We used 6 drywall holders (each holding 95 pounds) to lock the wood in place (via holes) after he cut a piece of wood slightly larger than the mounting bracket. br>br>It works just like any other hose reel you'd find at Harbor Freight, but it looks amazing, and the hose itself is of higher quality than anything I've seen for sale. br>br>The instructions aren't great, but if you're buying a hose reel, you'll probably be able to figure out how to mount it:.
I've only had it for about 5 weeks and have only used it a handful of times. 6 times. The product is great, and it lasts for a long time. The dirt is easily visible through the yellow hose, but it is unconcerned. My two issues are as follows: br>br> 1. br>br> It came with a very thin piece of teflon tape. It leaked at every single connection after I decided to use it. All of the fittings had to be removed, and I had to use my Home Depot teflon tape. After that, I tested it and found that all of the leaks had vanished. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br It was a pain to mount because it's heavy and you can't use a socket for longer bolts due to the hose reel getting in the way. Other models with a removable mounting base from the reel had caught my eye, but they were more expensive.
