When compared to purchasing just oil from any of the local stores, this is much more economical. Original purchase came from Northern Tool and by the time I went back to buy the equivalent, it would have cost almost twice as much for the standard oil instead of the synthetic oil. This keeps the compressor noticeably cooler than it would otherwise be, allowing for less debris in the oil when I change it. I live in southern Florida and use this compressor for sandblasting. I can now only do my oil changes twice a year instead of every other month, which is also a wonderful benefit for me. In addition, I entered the address for an extra 5 quart oil jug. For my Ingersoll Rand compressors, there is just under 2 qt of water needed to fill the reservoir, so it shouldn't be an issue. Another thing you should remember to do is to periodically replace the air filter. Since I go so long between oil changes, I don't just do it when I change the oil anymore.

My take on the oil is that it will be okay. It's too early to tell since I haven't had it in my compressor for a long time. One of the containers was leaking when the package arrived, and it was quite expensive. It had been open for a while and there was oil on every surface.
Even though the bottles themselves looked great, there was a little over a cup of oil inside the plastic bags. We had an enormous mess to clean up.
