Questions & Answers

Is it possible to purchase just the belt holster?

Yes, this is possible.

Is it possible to use a nail gun with this?

I don't see why not if your nail gun's grip is the same size as your drill's. Thank you very much.

But it's all very good
4/5

In general, I am a big fan of this device. I have a number of DeWalt tools (drills and impact drivers) and am constantly repairing things around the house. br>br>What I don't like about it is that if I bump the lever while taking a tool out, it locks open, allowing the tool to fall out freely when I put it back in! I had my impact driver on my side with a 2" torx bit in it the other day when this happened to me. When I bent down to pick something up, the bit caught on my jeans and pushed the tool out, causing it to fall and hit me on the top of my foot BIT FIRST! The tool must weigh a few pounds, because all of it was concentrated at the tip of that bit and into the bone on top of my foot! br>Even though it didn't break the skin, my foot is swollen and purple, and it hurts like hell. br>br>I'm going to sit down and study the gadget to see if I can file down the thing that locks it open and makes it impossible for a tool to accidentally pop out again. I'm in a lot of pain and not in a good mood today, but I guess it's my fault that I bumped it into an unlocked position and didn't check it when I reinstalled the driver. br>br>I'd give them five stars if they could just redesign these things so they can't be left unlocked. br>However, my purple foot will only allow me to give this nonsense a four-star rating. I'm hoping that I'll be able to change it. br>If I'm able, I'll come back and give it another star, but only after my purple foot is no longer purple.

If you're a technician of any kind, you should get it
5/5

Velcro is of good quality and stretches to fit even the thickest drill grips, such as the Milwaukee m12 fuel line. br>Comfortable and low-profile, with zip ties included as a bonus. I'm not sure I'll be able to use them. The bit holder that came with it was a great addition. I really like it because I can switch bits around like doc vacation.

It will be available when you require it
5/5

Every day, I use it with a Milwaukee 12v impact drill. Even while driving my work van, I can keep it on my side the entire day. I use my drill for everything as a service technician, and having it close by at all times is a lifesaver. Overall, I've been using this daily for two months and I'm going to pick up more for some of my other frequently used tools. I use the zip tie for added security but only notice a minor difference in how it feels in my hand.

It's fantastic, but it could be better

We build everything from additions to large pole barns and turkey barns, and I am a demolition specialist, framer, finisher, laborer, and steel panel technician. Factory hooks on drills take a long time to fall off and can come from a great height. The Gorilla hook is extremely durable and designed to be used on a regular basis. Here is my honest and practical opinionbr>br>I hope this reaches the engineering and design teambr>br>I like that you provided me with a zip tie to secure the drill. br>br>I like that you provided me with a zip tie to secure the drill. I'm always climbing through trusses and obstacles, which means I have to squeeze my tool belt, drill, and whatever else is attached to me through them. Since I purchased these items, I've been working on them for three weeks. I'm impressed, but it can withstand a lot of punishment. The Velcro loosens up quickly and isn't very secure. It slides around the drill handle, so you can bump the velcro attachment and reposition it after you've finished using it. I've moved it a long way around the handle in my use so far, and had to stop to reposition it before holstering it. All of that comes to a halt with the zip tie. br>br>I read a comment about the latching system and completely agree; it's frustrating, especially when everyone is waiting for you to set your end of the steel and you're fiddling with your holster, trying to latch it in or unlatch it. It's aggravating to hit the lever an absurd number of times by accident. I might also shorten the lever, as the other person mentioned. br>br>What would be nice is a thumb depress safety mechanism like the ones found on Safariland pistol holsters. When you place the drillgun in the holster, it automatically locks, ensuring that it remains secure in the holster. Then simply take the drill gun in your hand, press the button with your thumb, and pull the drill out. Simply push it back into the holster when you're finished, and it will automatically lock. That is simple and easy to remember instead of cocked up, cocked down, half cocked, almost cocked but not quite cocked enough to allow the drill in, and accidentally hitting the level every minute of your work day, at least that is what I would think. br>br>Lastly, I saved this for last because I believe it is the system's weak point. At first glance, the bracket that attaches to the belt doesn't appear to be the right design; it appears to be more of a cell phone holder for a regular belt; it will fit over a regular tool belt, but only just. It does not have a way to lock onto your belt; instead, it is a clip-on that slides over your belt. The problem is that when I use an impact with a heavy battery, I occasionally pull the entire contraption off the belt, at which point I simply toss the clip-on bracket on the ground and pick it up later. This happens on a regular tool belt from time to time, and because it's a clip on, it also slides up and down the belt easily, which I don't like. br>br>However, when you shed your tool belt and try to clip it on your regular belt, it won't work. When you try to unlatch your impact, most normal belts are thinner and narrower, and this causes the entire system to pull out. This system is rendered useless if you use your drill to remove the belt clip from the bracket. br>br>The belt bracket should be made wider. Belt clips are used in a tool belt system. It allows multiple uses for that belt clip, bracket; you can put a drill holster in there from the same system, another tool pouch, framers pouch, electrician pouch, etc. Those belt clips are a lot wider; it also has a locking tab that folds over the open ended side of the belt clip to lock it in place so it won't come off the tool belt no matter what you're doing. br>br>Alternatively, you could make the bolt that attaches the velcro to the drill or tool smaller by making it out of metal and shortening it slightly. Normally I am forced to shift hands and drill or screw everything I need into a certain place, but since we wear clothes under our belts, you should still remove some spacing. br>br>In the meantime, I'm going to drill a hole in the metal part of the clip so I can tie it to the belt with a zip tie.

Will be purchasing more; the handle is a little awkward, but the belt attachment is worth it
4/5

This item is extremely useful to me. As a plumber, I use a Milwaukee m18 Hackzall on a daily basis. We work on a lot of apartments, and I'm in charge of moving from unit to unit. Because projects change too quickly for me to wear a belt, I keep a small box with fittings and other supplies on hand. When I'm packing everything up to move to the next unit, the hackzall is the most difficult item to get my hands on. This allows me to easily move from unit to unit without having to make multiple trips back and forth. br>br>Be aware that the tool's locking knob protrudes from one side of the tool's handle. I've heard complaints about this, but if you know which hand you use the most, make sure it's in the right spot. I've grown accustomed to it because I value the convenience of being able to attach it to my belt; it's a compromise, but it works. Make sure your belt is comfortable to wear. Because it bears the entire weight of the tool. br>br>I'll also be purchasing more knobs for my drills. br>br>I hope you found this information useful.

Overall, an excellent product! This is an excellent product; as a locksmith, I don't need a full tool belt on a regular basis, so this is ideal
5/5

I have two recommendations for you: 1) Make a left-handed version of this. It can be worn on either side, but the dial is difficult to operate. The thumb, which is currently worn on the right hip, is the best way to operate the dial. 2) Consider making an ambidextrous model with a switchable dial on the opposite side. Overall, a great product with good build quality. Thank you very much!.
