It is beyond me how this product has ever been rated 4 stars. One time I used it on 1/2" metal electrical conduit and it worked as expected. The next time it served me well on 1/4" metal conduit. I tried cutting an inch black gas pipe but it wasn't even close. My final project would be completed by throwing it in the trash and renting a cutter.
If you do not need it for more than a single use, you should avoid it. The reason I purchased the tool was I needed to repair threads on a 3/8" steel tube for hydraulics and I couldn't find anyone in the area who could do it. I ordered this set because investing in a good set was prohibitively expensive for a one-time use. It was disappointing to find the cutters of poor quality. This meant that the blades weren't aligned correctly and that they cut poorly. In the end, I was able to make the repair with my 3/8" cutter just barely. Nevertheless, that was all there was to Worked like a charm.
