It's not at all like that. This type of work is carried out with the hands (shoulder or arm muscles are not required). When filing your fingernails, you should use just a bit more pressure than you normally would.

I watched my 75-year-old wife field dress 4 deer this year. She shot them all In the aftermath of the season, I sharpened her knife for the final time. I then tried using only a few strokes with a medium diamond stone after steeling it, just a few. Could it be the knife or your technique? Please let me know if this helps.
The point seems to be lost on a lot of people. You might get a hint from the picture of pruning shears held in the hand. Since it's a large, wide item, it allows you to reach the edges near the hinge easily. It had the ability to get to places you could not reach with a larger Since the taper at each end and its thinness make it easy to make curves, you can sharpen them quite.
Oh my gosh, I've been in desperate need of It seems the blades on my pruning shears are just dull after many years. My skill set as a landscaper has been sharpened by this little stone. look as if they had never been used before. A great deal for the price. My only wish is for more companies to make products that can be repaired or sharpened instead of throwing them away and buying something else. It's great working with these guys!.
The diamond coating on this sharpener is great, but it does have one small flaw. If your military survival knife or combat blade is attached to a knife sheath, then that would be fine as well. I view it as an abnormal use, though, as it would be used in tools like machetes and garden tools. It is important to wear gloves when you sharpen a machete. I think that there should be a hole in the stone to hang a lanyard from, as you can use it to hang on your belt with It would be great if this design and material were available on a larger device. A variety of sizes of hones would be even better for those who use them in the garden, in combat or during survival. The method works fine for pocket knives, but if you cut yourself with a large blade, you are in danger of getting badly injured. This is *br*br*t.
A Felco pruner model#2 has been in my household for over In the past, I tried using at least four or five different wet stones or files to sharpen the blades to my satisfaction (with varying degrees of success). Working as a maintenance tech in the spring and summer requires me to do a lot of trimming and pruning, so keeping tools sharp is far more cost-effective than using dull ones. It did not disappoint me, no matter its brand name, and I only bought it because of the name. All 3 sets of my pruners are as sharp as the day I bought them, as I spent a few minutes after work sharpening.
Compared to this, the Work Sharp Field Sharpener is a better purchase for about the same price. I spent quite a bit of time on two different loppers before finding the Felco doesn't offer any unique advantages. On the two loppers (Felco and Fiskars) it did not leave a particularly sharp edge. By contrast, my Work Sharp Field Sharpener w/removable diamond scales in two different grits was able to sharpen the same two loppers more quickly and to a greater degree of precision.
Over the years, I have purchased a few sharpeners, but none of them worked well for sharpening my Felco cutters, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this sharpener, but it is actually very helpful! The Felco cutter blades are not the only blades I use it on I also use it for other yard tools. Because of its portable size, it's easy to lose. It is inexpensive, easy to use, and very effective. Get a spot for it and make sure you keep it there, since it is easy to lose.
