did the doing and I told the story. make, and somehow needed the capability to bend backwards. In both 1/4 and 5/8ths copper, we made about 8 bends. Even though it was a little tricky to measure the 5/8ths, overall it was pretty good. As far as the durability of the product, I have no idea how it would fare if I used it every day, but it appears to be well constructed. Additionally, I know that aluminum is much better than hard plastic for the mandrels. Pipes made of aluminum are less likely to kink than those made of plastic. The ratchet seems to have gone kaput in some reviews. It never felt like it slipped to me, nor did I have that problem. My review will be updated if I have a chance to loan the tool to any friends in the next 6 months so I can report on any problems with the tool, but overall it appears to be of high Take a chance on it, I say. As far as I can see, they seem to be very attentive since they contacted me twice to inquire if I had any questions or problems.
Since I am in the HVAC industry for 38 years, I find that this bender works better than the ones with plastic dies, and the ratchet works very well. There is no kinking at all of the copper, even when bending 7/8".
This is both a great value and an easy to use product. The colored dots on the bends on the holder make it easy to use for that particular size tube. The only issue I have (and the reason being for 4 stars) is for benders when bent 3/4 or 7/8 tubing they flatten the copper if there is no lubricant spray applied to the benders. This flattening affect occurs because aluminum does not allow copper to slide.
I have now purchased this tool a second time. Despite hard use in HVAC installations for two years, the First is still working great. The best way to use it is to put it to use as much as possible. The majority of the time, she bends beautifully. Having a bad bend is a result of the tubing's Take a moment to use your common sense and realize that modern copper tubing is thinner and cheaper to make than the old stuff. The walls of thinner buildings tend to wrinkle more easily. Take care , give yourself a little patience, and dab some WD40 on the friction to ease it. This is a very nice color scheme. Streamlines the process of using it.
Products seem to be okay quality, but the bender that I got was defective to a point that it was kinking soft copper pipe, the mandrels are not accurately positioned, and the pipe sits incorrectly in the middle leaving It could happen that you encounter the same issue I had when you buy this product. Returning the purchased item was a good decision for me.
The one elbow I normally solder in a job with 16 was the only one I had to solder! As I had read the reviews prior to ordering, I took my time when bending so as not to inadvertently damage I was able to accomplish my task.
My only beef with the tool is that it's not designed to be smooth. Because of that, the stops are able to rotate so easily. Although they will obviously have to rotate as the bend proceeds, it would be nice if there were a little resistance so they don't end up rotating into the other position as the bend is being A tiny piece of plastic bag was placed between the stop and the bar. It provided just enough friction to keep them from falling out, keeping them from falling out of the boat. Taking a ride. It is for this reason that Easy to use received 4 stars.
It has an easy-to-use bending head and the reverse bending attachments are included, and the tool appears to be reasonably well constructed. do not need the reverse function, there are also kits that come with more useful optional accessories, such as a tube cutter and/or reamer, for example. Trying to bend 3/4" O, I was absolutely unable to do so. This tool was able to handle copper that was soft, but the reason for this probably had to do with the quality of the pipe itself. This post is mentioned as an example for those who might use it for the installation of HVAC line sets imported from abroad. When this tool is used with larger diameter sizes, it will probably produce unacceptable bends that won't ripple or kink. It seems likely that the videos with better results used copper of a higher quality.
My husband found it to be extremely durable, and he found it easy to operate. The HVAC installer that I am, I need to use this most every day of the week.
