I have never seen a clamp as strong as this. I almost feel like it's too powerful. My hands need to be on either side of the screen to open it fully. Unless you need that much power, this may not be a good choice. I was trying to clamp two small pieces of 1/4" plywood together, and while this clamp will do the job, it is also a bit of a pain to move from one set of pieces to another. The situation is not ideal in that regard.
It's crazy how much force this 2" clamp can exert. Normally I don't have any trouble opening this beast's jaws, but it takes two hands for me to do that. The other two 2" Irwin clamps I own are much easier to handle and less painful on the work piece and my hand. In any case, I'll keep these but only use them in cases where a heavy-duty machine is needed There is a need for heavy-duty clamping forces.
The response I received is also surprising, like the response I've received from other reviewers. As much as I would like to work with jewelry making projects, I actually thought I was buying a set of small (tiny) clamps. There is a big difference in size between these two clamps. 1" refers to the head of the clamp if that isn't clear to you (as it wasn't to me), and there was only one clamp I received. On the pictures of the clamps that I ordered, I thought it was a set. There is a possibility that they As a result, I can in fact recommend it based on its quality and price. I almost certainly will give this to my Dad, who is a woodworker, and I am sure he will use it well.
Because the plastic clamps (not the Irwin brand) that I have are too easily broken, I am going to purchase some steel spring clamps. I did not even manage to drill a bigger hole when I tried to use drill bits with cobalt coatings. These 1" clamps have a strong spring which is just In some cases, I use them for keeping tarps and such from blowing away in the wind. It hasn't been long enough since I bought them to have a clear idea of how well the metal surface and pads hold up to the elements although that isn't a major concern in this case.
Unfortunately, I found that it was very hard to open, and had to open it with a lot of force. For our purposes it is almost too strong (we use it to clamp small 1/4-inch pipes Plastic tubes and pipe 1/2 inch in diameter). very well, but for those of us with similar needs we probably should have just run over to a local hardware store and obtained a cheaper (and weaker) clamp instead of waiting for an eight-week delivery.
I think this is a good idea. One issue I had was opening up the clamp because it was difficult to squeeze. It's getting harder for me to do the things I used to do.
This program works well and has a lot of power.
