It is very sturdy, though heavy, but that should not be an issue. This should be the shovel I've been looking for that won't rust when left outside. The delivery arrived on time and in good condition, as promised. So far, I am very pleased.
It appears to be very appealing. It has a solid feel to it. This isn't a problem for me because I'm short. The shovels are particularly appealing.
To begin with, most shovels are not made of stainless steel, but this one is. Most shovels are made from a single sheet of steel, with the ferrule where the handle goes slit up the back. This one, however, is not slit or split, but rather welded and then ground smooth, creating a very strong socked for the handle to fit into tightly. It's a shovel that's also a work of art! As others have mentioned, it's a bit on the heavy side, but it's under 6 pounds and very manageable. The D- Instead of cheap plastic, the handle is made entirely of wood, as it was back in the day. That was the first thing that drew my attention. It'll be enjoyable for you.
I would buy this tool again because it is of excellent quality. Prospective buyers should be aware that the shovel is not sharpened, and the handle is made of nice wood. The stainless is thick and robust. However, a shovel blade does not need to be sharpened for all uses or soil conditions, and an unsharpened blade is far more durable and resistant to chips and damage.
The business end of this shovel is flatter than expected, and it is heavier than expected. There wasn't a whole lot of scoop. It is, however, a lovely thing. It's good at cutting through soil but not so good at shoveling it, and it'll be around long after I'm gone. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
They etch/cut/engrave their logo into the actual blade, in addition to burning it into the handle and stamping it on the collar? Apart from this ridiculous overkill (I suppose I should be grateful they didn't fill it with enamel), it appears to be well made. If you like your gardening tools with a side of vanity and arrogance, then this is the tool for you.
As a Christmas present, I gave it to the recipient. It was enjoyable to open because it arrived in an attractive and secure package. It feels sturdy and is the perfect size for a short person to use, which is exactly what we were looking for.
I like to use a big shovel. The shovel head, in my opinion, is too big for the handle. It's not designed for heavy-duty digging. I had a desire for a stainless steel item because I needed to do work near sea water. I'll use it occasionally, most likely only when working with loose materials, but I think the overall design is quite useful. When digging, stamping the brand into the shovel increases surface friction.
