Questions & Answers

Are there any problems with the needle not gumming up as you sew the fabric through? In the case of a zipper, setting it in and sewing it afterwards. Is it okay to wash this?

I would like to let you know that we use this tape every day here in the shop. We have never had any problems with the sticky tape causing problems in our machines. I doubt you would have any difficulty with the tape since it is so thin. If you intend to wash with tape, you should do so prior to doing so. It seems reasonable to think that since the tape is below the zipper and attached to the fabric, there would not be an issue with My guess is that the tape would eventually disintegrate over time. In case you decide to buy the tape, I'm curious to know what your experience has been. In our experience, it works really well on things like tarps, boat covers, sails, and similar items. Whenever possible, please do not hesitate to get in touch if we can provide any assistance. The Northwest Tarp & Supply Company was founded by Jim Watt A canvas with measurements of 360-656-6550

Would you consider this water a good source of drinking water?

Unlike water, it cannot be dissolved in water.

What is the ease of removal of this tape from seam allowances?

I reposition this tape all the time. It's pretty easy to get a fingernail under after it's been in place for a while. I'm pleased with its ability to stay in place and move it for fine tuning. After long term use, I am not sure if the mask will still be removable.

What is the purpose of this? Does it cover canvas and Boat cushions are to be made from this material. Could you please thank me?

Placing the basting tape in place of pins is an alternative to using To finish sewing your fabric, you still need to sew it. In the past, I've used the product on outdoor materials to make cushions for a patio set with good results. There's a company called Sailrite which may have a product that's right for you.

Basting tape is a great value, and the company is great too
5/5

It's not uncommon for people looking at Sailrite's website to describe the roll I received as looking like the picture of the sailing and vinyl basting tape. There is a different one for canvas and fabric at Sailrite, and the product description on Amazon does not describe it differently, and the numbers do not line up with what is available at.

Putting it in your needle gums it up! Others warned me this basting tape gums up your sewing machine needle, so perhaps I should not have ignored their warning
3/5

For the first time, I tried using the tape to baste fabric that was too heavy for me to use by hand while sewing slipcovers. In an attempt to remove it from the fabric when I discovered it couldn't fix two pieces of textured fabric, I used a pencil to make a mark on the fabric and pushed the heel in. Nevertheless, I went ahead and tried sewing it, and realized that all those people who said it gummed up the needle were right. This causes the thread to continually break. In order to make it right, I scraped the fabric and started over. That will never happen.

Basting tape that I have ever used is the worst
3/5

Basting tape that I have ever used is the worst. It is unclear whether it is different for each company that fulfills your order, but the roll I received caused me more problems than anything else. As for premium woven vinyl binding and sunbrella binding, it stuck better to the paper on the roll. The paper would have caused me to think it was the materials if I had not gotten this on a second roll of paper. Originally, I should have just gone with the more expensive 60 yard option on Amazon, as that would have worked perfectly. This is not the case.

Unlike what I expected or thought, it works really well
5/5

As a result, I was a little concerned that either the material (1000d Cordura) would not hold or that the needle would clog. It was a waste of time and energy to worry about both. I find it a little difficult to get the backing off the material once it has been attached. It has been my experience that curling the end of the paper will allow the paper backing to pop off right away. There are also some options with the 1000d Cordura, which has quite a bit of stiffness. During construction of equipment bags, this will be used to fold over the edges for making straps since the fabric is too stiff to sew "right side to right side" and then turn inside out (I may have some waste pieces from that operation). To keep everything in place before topping it off, I use these little plastic clips The stitching procedure. If I run out of something, I'll buy more when I do.

I like it very much
5/5

Like other basting tapes I've used, this one worked like the more expensive ones. In my bag making, I used cotton fabric to make it. In my case, it held fast to zippers and other positions that I needed. This results in a flat sewing surface without the bumps that are often associated with pins. I did have some trouble with my needle becoming gummed up after using it for a while, but a quick wipe with alcohol cleared it up. Removing the paper was a simple process for me. I found this product to be of utmost use.

This did not work for my project
4/5

I purchased it to use to hold zipper tape in place while stitching in a fabric type. I only rated it a 4 of 5 stars because it did not work for my project. After inserting the zipper I had no idea that the zipper tape I was using didn't have a 1/4" width available, so the sticky tape was exposed after the zipper was inserted. Despite the fact that the fabric I was using was stiff, it held up well. The kit is suitable for the right project, but not for mine. For example, I wasn't satisfied with the fact that instructions were not included with the kit. The video I had watched on how to use the tape was helpful, but I still felt that some instructions would have been helpful. Apparently, there was no indication in the packaging of the nature of this product. I have a roll of it now and will try it again when it is convenient.

It is a waste of money and time
3/5

The majority of basting tape I have used tears like masking tape, but this tape tears like a plastic It seems that the adhesive is somewhat sticky, but it won't make it all the way to the sewing machine before it comes apart, and it won't stay together again. Instead of using temporary holds, pins had to be used. Not a good value because it is a waste of money. In my case, I used 1/2 inch tape from Walmart, which I cut in half. There is a dollar Walmart sticker with great adhesion, that is easy to tear, and that can be detached.

The fabric cannot be sewn
3/5

The current version seems to be great in applications where sewing is not intended, but I bought it for zipper setting and it's not good for that application. As soon as it touches the needle, it gums up. Although I thought it said sewable when I put it on my wishlist just because it was what I was specifically looking for, I now see that it does not say that.
