Here's a line I thought would make an excellent frame. As far as I heard, it was supposed to be able to mark angles with ease, last forever, and chalk precise lines. I had to constantly look for the end, open it up, and tie it back on again. I chalked a real nice thin line, but it broke all the time. I sent it back after doing that daily for two weeks. If you are a weekend warrior or doing lighter or smaller work, this may be a great line. But you wouldn't use it for a frame job.
The things I love are these. A good amount of chaulk is held by them and they snap a tight line. There is nothing better than having a fill door. It's so much more convenient than the end plug and with the pin it makes it super easy to snap lines by myself when no one is around to assist. I got two As I've mentioned, I use a color pencil that I don't let the other guys use, so we can correct their stupid mistakes and there will be no confusion as to which lines I would like them to work on. My experience with these lines is excellent. I've had them for a half year now and so far I'm pleased. Only thing I don't like is the color of plastic, but I don't care, it's the performance I care about.
In terms of value, this chalk box seems to be worth the price. I'm just not that happy with it. A metal hook is supplied to use instead of the plastic/metal pin, so you can tie it on the line once the pin is removed (cut the line). There is no storage space for either hook on the chalk box, which ends up in a black hole in a tool box. Having a metal hook is a good idea. It would be better if the box was made But a nice fine line it is!.
Know what you're buying before you make a purchase. Chalk line with a very fine line. I use it mostly when doing detail work on interiors. The fact that there is a pin instead of a hook does not appeal to me. I find that it leaks a bit of chalk into your tool belt even with the hook included.
It can also be used for long lines due to the thin cord. On a 30' wall with no sag, I snapped a line. It is a very nice box. I am very pleased with it.
I primarily use this one for cabinetry and trim. I love the fine line and how the pin ends are so cool! You're the best!.
My career as an experienced trim carpenter dates back over 20 years. This is awesome. For 20 years, I have worked as a Trim carpenter, and I have probably used every kind of chalk line imaginable is a really awesome one, but make sure you use Tajima It is my favorite over the tajima, but only by a tiny margin.
In my quest to find the right amount of chalk to add without overloading the line, I still find that it's quite fine. While the pin attachment is a nice touch for solo work, the line itself is relatively flexible. As a result, you may have to take up a bit of slack before the pop to prevent your mark from drifting far and wide. I have found this to be one of the best chalk lines I have ever used when it's pulled really tight and snapped around 1" above the surface.
