As far as I know, the "oval hole" was used to access the electric wire inserted into the post, and was just below the surface of the concrete on which the post sits. It is not visible in my installation that there is an oval hole.
Thank you for letting me know about Kichler's 75" post. I apologize for not seeing it.
Approximately six inches above the bottom of the pole is a hole for cable entry that is one inch wide.

One of the light poles outside of my house needed to be replaced. A metal pole that had been painted and treated by the previous owner was rough and unattractive There were a number of problems with the Instead of replacing the pole, decided it was easier to just replace it. I have just received a new fixture that perfectly matches mine.
A solid product built well. The color is true to the picture. That is exactly what I was hoping The delivery process is efficient and quick. This lamp matched the ones I purchased from Elk.
While it is a good pole, it is a little bit expensive. I didn't find any other, so I got this one, and it is functional for my purposes.
