I took mine out of the box and plugged it into a regular USB port on my computer. C cable. There was no light. I was about to return the item because I thought it was defective. Just to be sure, I tried a few different cables, the majority of which were OEM. Finally, the red light came on when I plugged in the device's cable, indicating that it was charging. When the light was fully charged, it turned green. This item CANNOT BE CHARGED WITH A COMMON USB CHARGER. C cable! You must use the device's included cable.
My husband refers to my nightstand lamp as "the sun." " It was because of his description that I was able to find a product that would not wake him up. This item was exactly what I was looking for. He's told me on several occasions that it's focused enough that it doesn't bother him. In fact, he'd like me to place an order for him.

If you want to relax more and become tired, you can switch from a bright light to a softer light. I'm afraid I can't say for sure how or if it will affect your melatonin levels. That will depend on your sleeping habits, how much melatonin you take, when you take it, what you did before going to sleep, and so on. The only thing I can say is that there are different brightness levels of light to help you get to sleep, so make sure you're not doing something with a bright light that will keep you awake. The Glocusent is BY FAR the nicest; for starters, it's practically weightless when worn around your neck. The other two were attached to the back of my neck by two double A batteries. In addition, because of the way the arms are positioned, they automatically illuminate whatever I'm knitting. I initially mistook the arms for being too short. would be too dim to see where I'm knitting. This isn't the case, however. The lighting is fantastic. Because one of my other lights has long arms, I like that the arms on this one are short. Bending them up to light my knitting while I'm holding it is a pain. While I'm knitting, the others seem to shift. This is not the case. The fact that they are rechargeable appeals to me. The adapter is a 'C,' which is convenient because it matches my Android phone. It comes with a cord, but I use a plug-in adapter that I have. These have pleasantly surprised me so much that I'm going to buy a second set. I'm going to make two more as gifts for my knitting friends. I'm blown away by the quality of the lighting. Because this is the first time I've used these, I can't comment on battery life. I was eager to publish a review as soon as possible. These will satisfy you. They have an attractive appearance. It has a high quality feel to it. There is a small user guide included. It explains the three different types of lighting available. It claims that the battery will last for six hours. This is an incredible design. I was reading by a standard book light, but I wanted something different so I could knit while watching TV and not bother others with the light. I also didn't want to have to clip it to anything. This is ideal because it has three brightness settings, is extremely comfortable, and can be adjusted in any direction. I ended up using it as a reading light as well, and I got rid of my book light in the process. I have not yet recharged it, but it appears to be a high-quality idem.
I don't have the best lighting in this house, and my eyes aren't the best, so cross stitching is difficult for me. These are absolutely fantastic! I can see my patterns and cross stitch, which is very helpful during this quarantine; however, make sure to charge it every night after use. The availability and variety of light illumination options are excellent. It's not a bulky, gangly lamp like some on Amazon. The arms are the right length, they're easy to manipulate, and the whole thing is well-made and light. The size of the battery and the amount of time it can be used between charges are the best of any unit I've seen advertised. I started with Ledgle reading lamps, but as soon as I switched to the Glocusent version, I realized how much better this reading lamp was/is for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this unit. An investment that pays off.
For an international trip, I purchased this device, and it performed admirably. The independent lights adjust nicely, and the feature of variable brightness levels was a big plus for me. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF MY USB-STORAGE DEVICES This device did not work with C cables; I had to use the cable that came with the device, which I believe is a ploy to get you to buy an overpriced non-standard cable.
