The battery pack is easy to install and works well. We have had more power outages lately, so adding two of these to our home increased safety since a house without light during an outage could pose a hazard with stairs to fall down etc. We will no longer be in the dark during power outages. With these, I wired the plug end of the lamp cord for 120VAC with the wire nut added to the 277VAC leg that was not required. This made more sense than putting wiring on the inside of the wall, so I attached these to the wall with two notched pieces of wood, then attached the cord with wire nuts to the black hot/white neutral wires and plugged this into an outlet below it with 6ft of cord. I am a professional in the industrial automation industry, so I don't have to worry about fire hazards with my alternate means of installation. I also add strain relief to the cord-with-plug wiring to prevent wires from being pulled out by.
The emergency lights are a replacement for an older As my old unit of the same type was mounted to a steel box, installation was very easy. It was the removal of my obsolete, heavy units that was the most challenging part of the installation. Battery replacement on these would seem to be a very straightforward process. It is my hope and suspicion that these will last for at least 20 years.
When I first put the first one up, the light would not turn on with the test button, nor would it light up. I took it off and left the back plate on, then hooked up the second one and it worked fine. I am disappointed in the first one as it is broken, but one of the other works! **EDIT** The seller reached out and refunded me for the defective light, they were prompt and excellent in their customer service.
Power usually goes out quite a bit at the utility company where we live. My father and I had to scrounge our way out of a pitch black basement, so I set up some It is not necessary to hard-wire them rather, I used a good line cord and strain relief to connect them to a standard The lamps are difficult to aim, especially if you intend to mount them on the wall. However, you can still see out thanks to enough reflected light from the lamps.
I mounted four of them, but the mounting plate for the actual light was the back plate. This requires more time because of the short mounting distance to the main body of the light. Wires were hidden behind the unit behind a piece of plastic. I had to notch the plastic out to expose them.
It was easy to connect, as the directions said. Pressing the P&E button just causes the light to flicker, but it does not light up. Even after switching off the power and leaving my smartphone to charge, the device did not turn The charger for one hums, but the batteries are not working after they are charged.
Compared to old incandescent lights, they are much brighter. Batteries are easy to replace. So there is no need to touch up the ceiling paint, since the footprint is the same as the old units.
