I think it will work with most tracks since they are similar to Halo tracks
The ones I used were made for the "H" track (3 wire connections). There might be a compatibility problem between Lightolier and the two, but you should search if there is any.
The adapter can either dim the track that it comes plugged into and then all the lights on the track would dim equally or you can dim the lights one at a time when you use a separate dimmer after this one.
Creating a kink requires that the portion of wire in the adapter be run through the two holes. In my opinion, this serves as a backup method of ensuring that the wire does not get pulled through the adapter more than necessary.
