In my example, I used the I tested it for an elongated seat and it worked. As far as I am concerned, regular or elongated can utilize it.
This particular part cannot be used with a standard toilet seat. You need a seat that is specific to this part. As well as being easy to break, it is also fragile.

Due to a broken post, the hinge on the lid was no longer attached, so a new hinge was needed. While it cost about half as much as purchasing a brand new toilet seat, this worked well after a few days. While the video on the online installation site said it would take ten minutes, the video itself was only about a minute and a half, so it takes around that long if you do it correctly.
As soon as they saw the soft close was broken, this part arrived sooner than expected and was just the right repair. Considering the cost of the part and the difficulty of solving this problem, we wished there were a less costly part available.
I found the instructions to be very easy to follow and it was easy to install. I bought this for the toilet lid, and now it does not slam shut anymore.
