My first impression was that this was the cause and I replaced it (very easy, but I couldn't find it It was the red gasket below the canister valve that caused the leak, however. If you are looking for a 3" toilet canister flush valve kit, look up Kohler 1083980. You will see in the description that everything else in the specification should be included, including this gasket and the red one below the flush valve. It would be easier to just replace everything with that kit in the future, not just this You won't have to pay much more, and the things will wear out just as soon as possible.
My search for a plumber in NE Orange County included every plumbing store. Even though most said they had the part, none actually My Amazon Friend had a spare part, and I had it within two days. It replaced a failed part as expected, replacing a poorly installed part. I tried using a universal part, but it still leaked just like this.
I had to purchase it directly from the manufacturer. The quality is not the same on all brands, best to stick with a brand you know.
