My first impression of the device is that it is made of metal, with a plastic band around the center.
With this round mounting ring, I am not sure whether an oval vessel sink will work. The plumber just put my vessel sink on top of the mounting ring without caulk. When the pop-up stopped working, the plumber replaced it with a squat one. Through the sink and mounting rink, the up drain goes through the counter and into the sink. My guess is that you'll have a problem mounting your vessel sink flush to this Inello mounting ring part. The mounting ring needs to be another shape or type. If the counter is granite, it is not wise to overtighten it. The fit is just right. As long as the sink is installed correctly, it shouldn't move back and forth.
