The heaviest shutter I've used them on weighs in at around 40 to 50 pounds. So far, they've done a fantastic job on them.

My large cedar shutters were hung successfully with this method. These are nearly 8 feet tall, 24 inches wide x 1 inch deep, and weigh around 45 to 50 pounds. I dislike how the angles and depth of pintles are offset. The shutters would lay flat against the house if I hung them correctly, as they were designed. Instead, I turned them around so that the hinges protruded further, adding a third dimension and allowing you to tell that these are real shutters from afar. I could simply screw them in like every other house had if I wanted them flush against the house. Because of how I hung them, they can't close, but I didn't make them the exact width of the window, so that's fine.
This set of hinges is exactly what I was looking for. We're using them to install wood security shutters on the outside of our remote cabin to protect our windows from large wildlife and to make it that much more difficult for misguided people to vandalize. These hinges are the perfect size, easy to install, have a nice finish, and appear to be durable enough to withstand abuse. I only ordered one pair at first to test them out, but I've since ordered ten more to finish the job. These hinges are ideal for what they are, so if you require a strong hinge for security shutters or storm shutters, these should suffice.
Some people have complained that the screw holes' bevels are on the wrong side; they should be on the back of the shutter, stupid. These were clearly intended to be installed in a window frame with the shutter facing outward. br>Perfect for recessed windows or other deep window wells on a brick wall.

Shutter hinges that are perfect. Instead of simply nailing the shutters to the house, I added a personal touch. It's very heavy and of excellent quality.
