In this case, the product was made for holding the screen frame to the window slot in which the screen goes. This clip is intended to be installed in It includes the drill bit to use to drill the pilot hole, and that is what the instructions describe. My application was the exact opposite of what you did. In this case, I attached the clip to the screen frame and let it sit on the small rib the screen sits on. The offset was 8mm (as in the description), which is only a very small amount over 5/16" in total. It matters only to a non-English speaker It is a standard screen installation. It's a soft metal clip and you can trim it with a Dremel cutoff wheel, while holding the tab with a wrench on the tab. It was very easy for me to do that. A flat bottom is present on the screws, and they aren't self-taping. The screen is coated in white and should be able to support a screen that is 5/16" thick when mounted on the window frame. In addition, it is a good place to start in the Do-it-yourself world If you're a do-it-yourselfer, installing non-standard equipment may be difficult.
As opposed to the plastic ones, these are metal window screen clips. Among the hazards of living in Arizona is the sun's corrosive effect on plastic. Additionally, I would imagine that they have a very hard time surviving the extreme cold as well, as they might crack. There were no scratches nor flaking off of the paint, suggesting that it was well baked on. It is recommended that you check these out.
Aside from looking great and being very sturdy, these look fantastic. My only complaint is that the screws are way too short to really hold the trim on the window. I had to buy longer ones from my local Ace store to fix this issue. The finished product is perfect for holding my sunscreens in place and appears to be very stylish.
I got it to work. As promised, they did what they were supposed to do. A set of threaded machine screws is included. I successfully went into the vinyl window frames with no problem (do not use a power driver! )
The only down side was that they were quite expensive.
The plastic ones that came with my sunscreens were crumbling so I replaced them with these. The plastic ones have been replaced with new ones I looked for metal ones 3 times, but did not find any. This is an excellent product that has lasted longer than I anticipated. After one year of no issues or breakdowns, we are going strong. You do not have to replace these metal curtains after a brutal heat season by investing in metal ones. I wish you the best of.
Our storm doors have broken clips, and we had to get new ones. As usual, Amazon's service, as usual, was top-notch. I ordered these as replacements, and they worked flawlessly. Now that I have a good supply of these clips on hand, I will not run out when more.
Make sure you always have a few of these in various sizes to reach tight spots when external screens are not working.
