I guess it's 10' long though now I'm wondering if I should measure that but don't really care as it is going back. The problem is that it is definitely NOT 5/16" thick but only 1/4". May not sound like much but makes a big difference between cuttable with a bolt cutter or not. Further, it's not the heat treated steel claimed.
So "5/16" gets you 1/4" and "3/8" gets you 5/16". Flag if you think this truth would be useful to other prospective purchasers.
This is a very nice heavy-duty chain. The links are slightly thicker than 5/16-in (See picture). The length from end to end is exactly 10 ft.
Just as advertised. 10'-0" long and 5/16" or 0.315" to be exact. And you can tell by the sound it is heat treated. Very happy. I use it to lock up my bikes in the back of my truck. The weak link is not the chain but the eye bolt attached to my truck bed.
Solid bike chain. This will def make it hard for someone to steal your valuables.
I got the 10 foot chain and love it.
I’m 6’1” for reference of how long and big that chain is.
I feel safer having this chain and lock combination.
It’s heavy! It’s expensive. It’s a beast. I like that the chain is covered so I don’t worry about scratching my bike and I can pull it smoothly through wheel spokes. Get a great lock with a large enough throat to handle these thick links.
Used it to secure a farm drag at a remote location after having one stolen. This coupled with a 7/16” padlock to a tree should make it secure. Easily removed the scratch guard nylon shield to allow for multiple lock points.
This is a very high quality security chain. Beware of knock-offs and imitations. I have seen negative reviews of this product that say, for example, their chain is stamped "Made in China". I suggest ordering from the ABUS Amazon Store to ensure that you are buying the genuine article.
This chain was the perfect length and strength to lock bicycles to a bike rack on our car on a 1500-mile trip. Worked beautifully.
