These screws are 2-inch long. 3/4".
The 2x10s should be supported by the 10" (9-inch) (9-inch) (9-inch) (9-inch) (9-inch) (9-inch) (9 1/2 inch) tall. The screws will hold the trex boards in place securely without piercing the wood. I used Trex decking that had grooves and clamps to secure the boards. On the inner and outer pieces, I only used these screws. Use the screw's included bit to automatically countersink the screws, then cover them with color-matched decking "dowels." I don't think these screws should be used on all of the boards.
You can buy Trex (or presumably other) decking plugs that fit into the holes after the bit countersinks the screw about 1/4" below the top of the deck board. No pre - it is necessary to drill
These aren't made of stainless steel; they're made of carbon steel that has been coated.

I bought this to use in the deck picture framing installation. It's simple to put together, but there are a few things to keep in mind that aren't covered in the instructions. I used it with a scalloped bottom TimberTech Pro Terrain product. The use of Cortex with this product is not recommended by the company, but it can be done successfully with caution. The screws must be placed in the center of the scallops to ensure that there is enough material to hold the board to the deck once the screw is set below the surface enough to allow room for the plug. This product worked great for installing boards where the hidden fastening system couldn't be used because I measured each screw location carefully. br>br>When installing it into your deck, make sure there is wood underneath the screw for the entire length of the screw. If you only have 1 1/2" inches of wood, it will not set properly and will either remain flush with the deck's surface or will not fully set below the surface, leaving room for the plug. To force the screw to drill deeper, you can either place more lumber underneath it or press hard directly on it. Both solutions aren't perfect, but they do the job. It all depends on how easily you can get to the deck's underside. br>br>If the screw only goes halfway in and does not countersink to the full depth, the plug can be trimmed to fit and still look great when tapped in place. br>br>With these minor caveats, this product performs admirably and produces a finished installed board in which the screws are barely visible. The boards are securely fastened and appear to be in excellent condition. The color matching of the plugs is excellent.
The Cortex system performs admirably, and the plugs are visually appealing. The screw heads, on the other hand, are prone to being stripped. br>When I built my 4' x 16' deck, I had everything ready to go. All holes were drilled flush with the composite decking, except for four screws. When attempting to back out or rework the screw, the screw heads strip easily. Now what? br>I'm going to try removing the screw head with a screw extractor or drilling it out.
Cortex screws are unbeatable. You simply cannot. Even down to the faux wood grain, these plugs are perfectly compatible with Trex. If a customer could find 5 screws in his deck, I offered him a $100 discount on his bill. He only discovered 1 after 15 minutes.
I used an impact driver to install them, and it worked great.
The product has yet to be used by me. br>br>I'm slow, but I'm an eternal optimist, and I believe they'll be the best thing since sliced bread.
On my new TREX deck, these screws held up well. If the screws aren't driven all the way down, the top-mounted plugs won't fit properly. I had to take a few plugs out, trim the bottoms of new plugs, and replace them. They aren't designed to be removed, so make sure the holes are drilled where you want them to be.
The simplicity of use, as well as the color match to our porch's colors.
It's a little on the pricey side, but it'll do the job for my deck.
