My purchase of this item was at least six years ago, so I am not sure whether it will fit an existing Salsbury double mail box system.
A quad spreader bar is not what I called mine, but the non-quad spreader bar it was attached to By using a box mounting bracket that can be found on Amazon, you can mount your Salisbury base. It is always possible to drill new holes if necessary.
Steel is very strong and it is made of steel. As far as I'm concerned, it's doing just fine under my 20 pound mailbox.

This was ordered as part of the mailbox order. There was no instruction manual with this product. While searching on the internet for them, I discovered there was no hardware to attach the mailbox to the post or mail box. To get hardware, I had to go to the hardware store. As soon as the rear locking door is installed, the front locking door also opens, but is too tight to the frame and therefore will There are a lot of better mailboxes out there, but I would avoid this one. I think each of these items would be fine if sold individually, but putting them together is a mess and a bad design overall.
Although Salsbury claims to have improved the finish's durability, it is not apparent that it has done so. In New England, aluminum products that are exposed to the weather 100% of the time need to be finished to the highest standards. The card may not last as long as its price indicates. I used to own Salsbury's mail box and it is not worth the price it is asking. It was installed into a paper tube and the finish peeled away quickly after a few years.
It is overpriced.
This product is much better than the large green boxes, as it makes a much neater appearance.
It is well made and can be used by other manufacturers as well. It's a pleasure to behold black paint with superb texture and color.
The steel is very heavy gauge and well-polished The holes did not align with the Salsbury mailbox in the way I thought they would. The alternative position had to be used per the directions. There are times when you just have to adapt. Now, if only the delivery person would just use it and not toss the papers on the ground. You could mow your lawn or drive your car.
