My experience has taught me that you may need to use the other set of holes if you need the box to extend further out from the post. Since I was mounting it from behind the plate, I had to ensure the box extended enough for the delivery person to place the paper in the box since I was mounting it to a mail box mount.
There were no holes to match the holes in the platform or the mail box, so I drilled new holes, which was easy.
About 5 inches of the bracket comes with the box. The bracket is 4 1/2 inches wide. In the drop part, there is a length of 4 1/2 inches. In addition, I believe that the piece that connects to the post is also about 4 1/2 inches The bracket on this paper box makes it so low that I do not recommend it. The paper box is only about 25 inches above the ground for my mail box. run into papers that were left on the ground or on top of the mail box, and I had trouble taking the paper out because the box was too low when I drove up to it.

In order to attach it to the post, I had to drill new holes in the concrete post. I think the final result came out very well. Purchasing the whole set of Package Mailbox, Paper Box and Post is a great choice. They look great and are made extremely well. Compare all secure mailboxes that also handle small packages that I was able to find. The one I found had a pretty good look and was considerably less expensive, but when I examined its construction it became apparent that all it would take is a large screwdriver to compromise its integrity. An easy to pry open locking door made this a very flimsy product. There is a reinforced door on the Mail Boss and it is more heavily built. It's madness all the way. So far, my only problem is that the mailbox isn't being put in correctly by the mailman. On each side of the threshold of the "in" door, instructions are posted. He's apparently in too much of a hurry to pay attention to the door tray as it says "packages in the slot and envelopes in the door tray". My goal is to correct that issue as soon as I catch him.
It's too common for newspaper holders to be made from cheap plastic or to be built into ugly plastic frames/holders. A single email has been posted. One of the best out there.
