It takes 3 minutes to install, and it works like a charm! You will also need a pair of pliers and a 12mm socket wrench
5/5

As for the socket wrench, it is for the rear nut holding everything together, and the pliers are used for removing or reinstalling the tension "shim" that holds the lock on your post office What are the most important tips? USE THE KEY INSERTED IN THE REAR NUT BUT DO NOT tighten it! A different lock was ruined this way as well. When this happened, the internals were damaged, which made inserting and removing the key very difficult. Another tip isn't really a tip at all, but make sure that you count on the included accessories to do everything you need to. variety of latches on offer will fit over 99% of all postal boxes. In the event that your lock is crazy, it's highly likely that you can just reuse your old latch onto this new one. It's only the small square hole that is interchangeable and they are all Last but not least, don't stress out about It is easy to do and anyone who is able to use basic tools can do it. I wish you good.

The screen is too small now, and the China junk is too thin
3/5

As much as I've bought the boxers over the years, their quality has always been fine. Now the boxes appear so cheaply made and are not as tough. It's because they've reduced the amount of metal used in the lock, so there is likely to be less waste. Now it No use as a lock, since it is in no way secure to fit a standard USPS mailbox. As a result of the no return policy, this piece of junk just ended up in the garbage. Is it no longer possible for companies simply to make a quality product? The price of something that actually works would be well worth it for me.

He does his job well
4/5

I am satisfied with the performance of the Prime-Line S 4140 Mailbox Lock. My device popped right in with no problem. There isn't a whole lot of blame to go around for the lock on the mailbox because all my negative comments concern ME. that out of the way, let's get going. Having said that, it was a straightforward process to install. As I was too lazy to get a hammer, I pulled out the retaining click with a channelock wrench and then used the handle of the wrench to push in a new clip. As I already mentioned, my old lock opened clockwise whereas this one opens counterclockwise. Having to get used to that will not be difficult. For the lock/unlock to function properly, I also had to rotate the arm and remove the lock. There were many arms, but none of them were exactly the right size. In the end, I had to acquire a pair of small ones. The 25" felt pads provided the proper distance for holding the mailbox door closed in the closed position so that the lock arm would swing into position effortlessly without my having to jiggle the door out of alignment with the All the locks on the mailboxes around mine have a keyhole cover as I look at the other locks. There is no such thing as this lock. It would be nice to have a keyhole cover for our mailboxes, but we cover them, so it won't get rained on so for me it is unlikely to be There is no reason to believe any bugs will consider the keyhole a nice place to live. In the future, we will see how well it holds up over time to determine if it was a good or bad purchase.

Added more than $100 to my savings
5/5

The last tenants did not leave a mailbox key in the building when I moved into my apartment. A locksmith would have cost me more than I was willing to spend, so I instead broke in and replaced it within minutes. The lip comes in different sizes so you can fit it to the size box you need. I was able to figure it out in just a couple of seconds and I'm very proud of.

Contact a locksmith only if you have to
5/5

It is possible for you to accomplish I had a broken mail box lock and the door was hanging open, but the mailman still came. A couple of years ago, one of us lost a key and we had to pay a Locksmith $100 to retrieve it. A new lock was installed and new keys were given to us. When I decided this time to make it myself, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. I love it! You can do it! To do this you will need a screwdriver and As a result of putting the lock in backwards, it didn't latch all the way, so I had to open and close it using the key. It was easy as soon as I understood this, after testing every single latch I had. There is a clip that secures it to the inside of the door, so you must hammer a bit. Make sure you save your old latch in case the new ones don't fit the old lock after removing the old one. This lock looks just like the old one, so I hope it lasts as long as that one did.

This looks like a better alternative to USPS cluster mailbox locks from the 90s, at least for a while
3/5

My old lock was worn out, so I bought this one We recently found this "HUDSON" mailbox lock, made in There was no key that would work in the lock, and the keys were worn out to the point that they could not be jiggled in the lock. It was the closest thing I could find to the actual lock that I could find, the Prime-Line S 4140 lock. In terms of the body of the lock, it is identical to my original, but the front face is about 1/8" smaller. The replacement lock faces fit nicely, but you can still see a ring around the new lock faces where the original lock faces prevented the sun from fading the paint. Moreover, none of the cams included with the new lock are identical to those included with the original lock. I first tried out all of the replacement cams, but it did not fit the new lock body. Instead, I simply reinstalled the original cam onto the new lock body and it worked It must be noted that I also had the same problems as another customer who was having trouble removing the key from the lock. In fact, I had already removed the cam that was pre-installed when I first had the issue. A lock body was installed into the door and installed. To verify that it was aligned correctly, I pulled the key out in both positions to see which position was locked, but I couldn't pull it out in either position to confirm it was locked. It was impossible for me to find out why the key wouldn't come out of the lock after I removed it. Afterwards, the key slid out from underneath when I installed the cam. The reason for this is unknown to me. The lock was reinstalled into the door and then the cam was installed. Keys are easily inserted and removed, and there is no problem with the lock. As soon as possible, I plan to have a couple extra keys made and I'll update the review if there are any problems.

Update A knock was heard at the mailbox door. I went down to the mailbox to find it While no evidence of tampering was found, three components lying outside and inside the mailbox indicated that it had been tampered with. There was a problem with the threaded stud for the cam. Mechanics cast this entire assembly from one piece of "pot metal" and there's not much material since the screw is shafted through the entire thing to where the nut is mounted.

It can't be replaced, even if it's defective
3/5

DO NOT BUY! A word about the beginning. No return is allowed for this product. Even replacements are not allowed. The second problem was that I could not remove the key from the lock position the moment I took it out of the package (even before I installed it). If you want to replace this lock, I HIGHLY recommend buying any other lock that isn't this one. Even though I have not received a replacement, I am very upset!.
