Upon receiving my original key order, I find out that there are only two keys, not four. They said it wouldn't be a problem and that they would send out replacements and they could send back the originals. In the meantime, I decide to hold onto them until the upcoming "complete order" appears. A new order comes and it only has two this time! My call to Amazon is answered yet again by a representative and I am told to keep the other two to make the complete 4 I should have received. It is a minor inconvenience, but it is irritating. In the following days, I receive a spam email from Amazon informing me that I will be charged for the original order if I do not return it? So I've been on the phone with Amazon about this again this morning to have it wrong and put in The description mentions quattro, but clearly a quantity of FOUR is needed. But there are many headaches for something as simple as that. Also, I contacted architectural mailboxes and informed them of this issue, as if they sell on behalf of Amazon, then they need to be aware of the problem. The Question & Answer section has an issue This isn't a section that only I have access to. So, that's all said and done. My locksmith cut them for me today and I'm glad I have spares on hand.
I bought a mailbox with two keys, but there are issues. I need an extra one, or maybe two in case one breaks If you want to give others a thumbs up, do so. The issue is that NO key shop in the area carries them, and the only way to purchase them is to order four blanks at a time. This solution was quick and easy, but unfortunately I now have to go to a locksmith to have them cut from the master key. I will have to pay about $8 for each of the two keys I require. I would have preferred if the manufacturer shipped me a pair of keys from their bucket of keys in the factory than it was to have the manufacturer send me keys with the code number on them. I was surprised at how fast they shipped.
In the order form, it says there are 4 One of the blanks in the package I received was missing. According to the invoice in the package, there were four blanks inside. In other words, I am not reviewing the product in any way, just what I got. One key blank only costs that much, so who would pay so much for one? Amazon did a good job of refunding my purchase, as it has done in the past. In order to obtain the blanks, I would have to change my mail container, or I would have to find another source.
In response to my mailbox (along with my elderly neighbor's) being broken into on two separate occasions, I decided to upgrade to a more durable one. The versions that I found at Home Depot and Lowes also came in my online order. I ordered two for about $10 less. They were slightly more affordable and required only minimal assembly. With minimal difficulty, I was able to install the new mailboxes within about an hour after removing the two old damaged ones. Since I have used these for over two months, they have worked perfectly and now I do not have to wake up and grab my mail in the middle of the night.
That was exactly what we were looking for Find a locksmith in the local area who would cut them proved to be the hardest part. In fact, it is not uncommon for the big-box stores (and even smaller hardware stores) to require you to buy the blanks before they are willing to cut a key. There is only one problem none of them have It was an Amazon deal, so thanks! Once you overcome that hurdle, everything will fall into place.
If you plan to duplicate an original key, then you will need key blanks. These are special locks for the architectural mailbox I purchased in order to be able to hold more mail than a regular Original keys should be brought to a locksmith. He or she will make you copies of original keys with these key blanks. You select the right blank by looking at the number on the back (or the original key). The physical properties are identical to those of the originals.
I was able to find the right fit and just what I was looking for. Locksmiths do not duplicate them because steel destroys cutting wheels, and locksmiths are not allowed to duplicate brass. It is brass they are looking for. Without issue, I had these cut to my original measurements by a local locksmith. You can check with your local locksmith to see if they have.
It has not worked both times I have tried to copy a key from an original. Although I would consider it human error, the keys come with a warning informing me that they require a special copy method, though it doesn't say how or what that is.
