Questions & Answers

What is the maximum number of power cords that could pass through the opening?

I only have two going through it right now, but I believe you could get a couple more. I hope this information was useful.

Is this capable of completely filling in the hole? I'm looking for some to simply plug a hole rather than use for cords. ?

The grommet will not be able to completely close the hole. The aperture can be rotated to a different position, but it will remain in place. Grommet covers that are solid and have no opening are available on Amazon, as are adjustable grommet covers that can be fully closed but can be opened if you need to run wires in the future. br>ATB, br>Sam &

Is there a finish on the brass?

Yes, it has a protective layer (which, by the way, is much more durable than regular lacquer). You can rest assured that they will maintain their luster for a long time!

Has anyone succeeded in flush mounting this (the outer ring is recessed level to the mounting surface, allowing you to slide something over it)?

The outer ring is inserted into the opening. As a result, you won't be able to slide anything over it because the top thickness of the outer ring will be sitting on the surface. If you try to slide things over it, they will trip.

Grommet is made of metal and is very nice
4/5

This all-metal grommet is of excellent quality. The brush works fine, but there's not much room for wires with it in place. However, it is simple to remove. br>br>In response to the comments about the hole saw and fit, the grommet's body is just shy of 2-inches long. 5/16" thick, with ribs that are closer to 2-inch thick. 3/8. The 60mm hole saw is right in the middle, but unless you can get your table or desk into a drill press, a hole saw is difficult to keep in place and tends to make a sloppy hole. I went with a 2-inch square. The grommet dropped in nicely up to the ribs using a 5/16 Forstner bit in 5/4 white oak with a drill guide (clamped in place). The ribs are a little tight right now, especially in the oak, but a little finessing with a spindle sander and it'll be perfect. If you want the grommet to be flush mounted, you'll need a 2-inch gap between the grommet and the wall. It will be nice and flush if you use a 3/4 inch Forstner bit about 1/8 inch deep before the smaller bit. br>br>Obviously, not everyone will have the necessary bits and guides, tools, and so on. The grommet, on the other hand, is almost exactly the right size. The trick is simply being able to drill a precise enough hole, which is especially important if you want to flush mount because concentric, fairly precise holes are required. It's also important to consider the material you're using to install it in. It's much easier to install a grommet into something soft like MDF (use a block of wood and a mallet to drive it in, and the grommet will be a nice tight fit in a 2-inch hole). a 5/16 inch hole Hardwood or a surface with a high-gloss finish It will take a little more effort to pressure laminate. TL;DR; TL;DR; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; It all depends on how picky you need to be, as well as your situation and available tools.

The grommet is larger than the hole saw, so why is that? Because of the high price, I am giving this product a low rating
3/5

br>br>What I liked: br>The grommets are made of metal and have a nice finish to them. br>The locking mechanism is sturdy and can withstand the weight of heavy cables. What I didn't like: br>br> br>The grommets are a little too big for the hole saw sold by the same company under this listing. The grommet's "teeth" don't even extend to the edge. To attach the grommets to the table, I had to use caulk. The locking mechanism is set up in such a way that the hole can line up in eight different ways. Because I had to glue the grommet in, I had to make sure the holes were pointing in the right direction. The hole is too small for more than a couple of thin cables because of the rubber bit with the brush. It is, however, purely optional.

It's a better alternative to plastic and it goes well with the desk
5/5

In our den, we have a nice executive style desk, but it lacks a hole for running cables (for the monitor and speakers). This piece went well with our desk, and drilling it with the circular drill bit (sold separately) was simple. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that I wish either the grommet diameter or the drill bit diameter were slightly larger. The reason for this is that The grommet simply rested in the hole after I had drilled it. The grommet has a very slight wiggle to it. If the grommet was larger or the hole was smaller, it would take just a little more pressure to push it in, resulting in a nice tight fit that would prevent the grommet from wiggle or rotating when the cord was pulled. Nonetheless. This is one of those items that you set up once and then forget about. So it isn not a big deal, but it doesn t make 100% it perfect. more like 95% perfect than perfect than perfect than perfect.

The product looks great and performs well, but the instructions are limited
4/5

This particular oil was chosen by me. installation of an oil-rubbed bronze cable grommet on a beautiful hardwood desk with oil-rubbed bronze accents Hardware in a rubbed bronze finish. Fortunately, the installation went smoothly and the finished product looks fantastic. The grommet, on the other hand, came with only rudimentary instructions. Simply drill a 2 3/8" hole and secure it with tape around the base if it's loose. The tricky part is figuring out how to drill the hole without scratching or splintering the desk surface, and the instructions don't mention it. I had to look up instructions on You Tube for an hour (use a sharp hole saw and mask the area where the hole will be drilled). The grommet is in good working order. It is well-designed and appears to be of high quality. I wrapped electrical tape around the base to get a tight fit in the hole because it was a little loose. Once installed, the tape is virtually invisible.

Metal cable grommet with a nice appearance
4/5

I looked at the specks and ordered a hole saw that matched the description when I bought it. I discovered that the grommet was loose fitting when I cut the hole and placed it in the hole. Also, the grommet's depth is shallow; I wish it were deeper and slightly larger for a more snug and secure fit. Because it's made of solid metal, it's a good weight. I was also relieved to learn that a quarter twist secures the top plate in the grommet, as it would not have stayed put otherwise. I'm using it outside on a covered porch to power our grill from beneath the deck. So far, I'm pleased, though I'm not sure if it will rust.

A 2 3/8-inch hole saw was bought and used
3/5

I bought a 2 3/8 inch hole saw and used it; let's just say it's too big and the lower half wiggles around; go to 2 1/4 and it should be fine.

DHS has done a fantastic job of filling a market void
5/5

I admire how DHS has filled a market void by elevating a common piece of hardware to something beautiful and long-lasting. In my area, a cheap plastic cable grommet costs about $6 at the local big box hardware stores. In every way, this one is far superior. We spent a lot of money on a quartz countertop, and I wanted a cable grommet to match. Is a $12 cable grommet required by anyone? Of course not, but I figured it was well worth the extra $6.

Perfect!
5/5

I agree with all of the other reviews that this Cable Grommet is of excellent quality. I bought a lovely wood desk for the center of my office, and I wanted the wires to run through the top of it. The product is of excellent quality and is simple to set up.
