These door handles are very sturdy and heavy, which I like. Excellent value for money and prompt delivery. While it may not have been necessary, I lightly sanded the entire handles, primed painted with extreme rust primer, and then painted two coats of Rustoleum hammered paint before installing to provide more weatherproofing since I'm not far from the ocean. It appears to be fantastic.
These are well made, which is becoming increasingly difficult to come by these days. They're a well-made product. I purchased them to use as handles on several very heavy roll away bench cabinets I built for tools like a drill press and milling station with planer and jointer in my garage. The fact that there were six total screw holes meant that there was plenty of grip, which was a selling point given that the milling station weighed in at around 300 pounds and was not easy to move around. These handles and the hardware that came with them did the job and looked great.
Handles appear to be solid and heavy-duty. It is, however, prone to rust. I used these handles to make a firepit cover, but they rusted after only a week outside, so I replaced them with stainless steel screws from Home Depot. To prevent further rust, I also painted the handles themselves with rust paint.
Following hip replacement surgery, I will be unsteady. I purchased four of these to use as grab bars on doors with steps and on the sliding door track in my bedroom closet. I'm looking for anything that might cause me to trip. br>br>I'll match the color scheme. The metal grab bars have a much more professional appearance than the plastic ones. This is heavy metal, and I believe it will be able to hold me steady. Metal anchors and screws are included in the package.
The handles are made of white cast iron and are quite substantial. They're ideal for solid wood doors that are thick and heavy. I'm going to use them on MDF sliding glass doors, and I'm hoping it won't be too much.
The handles are strong and well-made. They've been ground smooth so there are no sharp edges and they're easy to hold. The finish has a substantial feel to it. Because I'm using these as grab bars on my wood deck, I didn't use the included screws because I thought the screws should be longer to make them more secure. Instead of nails, I used decking screws with black heads. I'm extremely happy with the outcome.
The finish is rough and pitted, as it should be for iron. The paint is a patchy brown that gives it a rustic but not necessarily rusty appearance from a distance. The color goes well with my door, but it may not be appropriate in all situations. br>br>It's quite heavy and dense, which is exactly what it should be. It appears to be a little longer and taller than most hands require, but it's a nice size and easy to use.
It didn't matter to me how they looked; all that mattered was that they were made of string. A safety bar, such as one found in a bathtub, was another option, but it required a complex mounting system. Installing these is a breeze. These are both attractive and rustic in appearance. The provided screws make it simple to put them together. They were ideal for my needs, and would also be ideal as a door handle for a heavy door.
