They are extremely effective. Follow the instructions; the cable you bury underground, not the bungee, is what transfers the full power load to the next section. It will stop your livestock and do what it's supposed to do, but don't count on it to transmit the disease. I have seven gates on a run, and losing a little at each gate would cause a problem at the end of the fence line, especially in dry weather.
