Is it necessary to chisel a hole in the door to install the finger pull, or can it simply be laid flat?

Your door is not chiseled out. The finger pull is mounted on the top of the door, with a completely flat backside.

How far apart are the mounting holes? I need 6. 25 inches in length. Harley, could you please thank me in advance?

Instructions and an allen wrench are both missing

The handle itself appears to be of good quality, and I'm confident that after installing a similar handle on another barn door, I'll be able to figure out how to install it. Because this was an Amazon Warehouse purchase, I expected the item to arrive in damaged packaging and possibly show signs of use. I also expected it to come with the allen wrench I'd need to put the screws in place. I would have contacted the seller if there was any way I could have gotten them to send just the instructions and the allen wrench. I don't want to send the item back in its entirety. I'm hoping I'll be able to find something similar in my toolbox. without having to go to the store and buy one. The handle's own quality: 5 stars. Including all necessary supplies: 1 star.

Really nice, nice weight, well-packaged, and quickly delivered. I used it to make a barn door for our pool shed outside, and I routed the back plate flush with the door.

The repackaging department has made me feel cheated

In January 2021, I purchased two of these handles. I only finished installing them on May 5th. The two square backing plates shown in the photo are not included in the "repackaged" version. Now I'm told it's too late to file a claim because it's been too long.
