Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use the second button to operate a Liftmaster garage door opener?

LiftMaster, like us, uses a custom coding algorithm. Sorry.

Is there a lead chemical in the remote?

It's a good remote control that's relatively simple to connect to a relay switch
5/5

This spare remote was purchased solely for the purpose of disassembling it and connecting it to a wireless smart switch relay. The remote control has a decent range. The signal can reliably open and close the gate from about 100 feet away, despite being tucked away in the basement (with no clear line of sight). I haven't tried to find out what the maximum distance is. br>br>To connect it to a relay switch, look for how-to videos on YouTube. It took about 20 minutes for me to sodder, and I'd never done it before. However, now that this small remote is connected to my Alexa, I can use it to control my Ghost Controls gate and even automate things like closing and opening on a schedule. I'm not sure why Ghost Controls doesn't make this easier for people.

In cars, HomeLink will not work
3/5

I recently completed the installation of a Ghost Control gate opener. While the installation went smoothly and the gate opener is performing as expected, the remote is completely unable to program any HomeLink clicker. I have three HomeLink-equipped vehicles, but none of them responded to the Ghost Control signal. No other signal (on the 2nd button) from our existing HomeLinks would be accepted by the Ghost Control transmitter. br>br>This is infuriating and difficult to comprehend. br>br>My father has a Mighty Mule gate opener, which we were able to connect to the HomeLinks in all three of our vehicles. For the most part, this is a standard feature. br>br>However, the Ghost Control gate opener appears to be slightly superior to the Mighty Mule. The fact that the control unit is housed separately appeals to me. As a result, it is not connected to the attenuator. Within the attenuator housing, the Mighty Mule houses both the attenuator and its control unit.

Only with a Ghost Controls gate opener will it work
3/5

I tried to get the remote to work with my garage door opener, but it didn't work. However, I was unsuccessful. br>I've tried a few "universal" remotes and none of them work. Finally discovered that can control both the Ghost opener and a large number of garage remotes.

Programming is simple
4/5

Opening the receiver unit with a screwdriver is required for the initial programming of the first remote. The remote should not need to be programmed by physically unscrewing the receiver's cover. Once the first remote has been programmed, it can be wirelessly transferred to any other remotes that need to open the gate. Our gate had a power issue with the receiver, necessitating the programming of all the remotes. br>br>In addition to the more difficult step of unscrewing the cover on the receiver, the manufacturer could use Bluetooth to communicate with a smart phone app.

So far, a perfect five
5/5

A week is all it takes. A few weeks ago, I bought it. It was only recently put in. It would have taken about four hours if I hadn't had to remove all parts from the previous gate control and make a couple of trips to the hardware store, and probably a couple of hours if you've done it before. br>br>Instructions were very good with one exception. I'm not sure if I missed it in the instructions, but my unit wouldn't turn on, so I needed assistance. I had to push on the control arm's end to make contact with the internal mechanism, then turn/screw the end a few times. Then it began to work. Other than that, everything is fine. br>br>A minor issue was that the nuts within the gate attachment were too small for my average-sized fingers to install. The living quarters were too close together. For those who aren't mechanically inclined, the solution was to place the nut with needle nose pliers and turn it to get it started. Pliers should be facing inwards, not outwards. Then I used a socket wrench with an extension to finish the job. However, this isn't a major issue. br>br>Another thing, if you have a long 3/8 bit, you can use it, as I believe the instructions were for a different size, and the hole that resulted was plenty tight. In fact, I "wallowed" the bit around a little to make it a little bigger before bumping the bolt through. I say bumped because you don't want to hit the bolt too hard and risk stripping the threads. br>br>Consbr>None if you call for help instead of trying to figure things out for days. br>br>Prosbr>Seems to be a better-made product than my previous opener of the same type. There was plenty of free play in the previous one. The gate would continue to move for several inches, up to a foot, after the motor had stopped. I haven't seen the Ghost unit in action, and it opens and closes slowly. br>br>Excellent instructions. br>br> I have never encountered such excellent customer service. Agent waited until I arrived at my gate and then walked me through the process, giving me clear instructions along the way. And I didn't have to hang up on my call for an eternity. Unless it was an android, I was also given a real human. However, if it was, that would be fine. I am not prejudiced in any way. br>br>Only one word of warning. It's only been a few days since I've used it. At 12 a. m. , it might transform into a pumpkin.

I have three standard gate remotes and one of these premium 5-channel gate remotes, all of which have battery and range issues
3/5

Remote controls for gates with buttons. This remote consumes batteries at a rate unrivaled by any other. It's a backup remote that I keep in a drawer and forget about for a few weeks, only to discover it's dead. It's only used once or twice a week, if at all. There's no reason why the battery should be depleted so quickly. If I'm going to have to replace the battery every few weeks, it's not worth the extra money. In addition, the range is abysmal. My garage door opener remote appears to have at least a 5x range.

Things work
5/5

The first reason I purchased ghost controls was because my neighbor, who, like me, had a mighty mule system, recommended them. I looked at MM, but there were a lot of quality issues in the reviews, and the components are made in China. The second reason I bought the gate openers is that they're made in North America! The gate system and remotes work well together, and I also have a gate lock because I have dogs who try to escape by pushing the boundaries! Because I live in a semi-rural area, having a lock that consistently opens is important to me. The mighty mule never worked from the start, which I predicted based on my research! I simply put it in the opposite direction of where it was supposed to go. It was working fine until someone backed into my gate and twisted it. This is the system to use if you want to work efficiently. The only part that didn't work properly was the inside-the-property sensor that opens the gate when someone exits.
