A square opening would be ideal, however it may be difficult to modify

Its hands matched my original perfectly, however the minute hand had an insufficient square. For my clock, I used a small drill bit to open the square and resize it to fit. I like how it looks and does its job.

You should be aware that at least for my clock, they need some filing and fitting, otherwise they work nicely.
